Mitchell's received mixed reviews for their food and service. Despite attentive service and a welcoming atmosphere, some complaints were raised about the noise levels and lack of flexibility for special occasions. Was Anonym at Mitchell's a mag?
One of my favorite restaurants in Ireland. The food is wonderfully fresh, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. The staff are delightful, especially Roland, who makes you feel right at home. We always make sure to visit whenever we're in town visiting family. View all feedback.

What Anonym dislikes about Mitchell's:
Mitchell’s caters mainly to tourists and passersby. The food is quick and flavorful. However, I’m not a fan of the panko breadcrumbs on the fish and chips or the UHT milk used in the coffees. View all feedback.

Mitchell's is promoted as one of the top restaurants in Clifden. The original owner, who is the brother of a local taxi driver we frequently used, recently retired, and now the restaurant is run under a license. Our meal was satisfactory: the food was good, particularly the grilled oysters we had to start. The mackerel pâté was also decent, but the calamari rings had a batter that was too thick. One frustration was the speed at which the food was served—not just at our table but others as well. The gap between courses was only about two to two and a half minutes, meaning the entire meal was finished in under an hour, which isn’t ideal for a relaxed dining experience. At the end, my wife asked who the chef was and was told they didn't know. She then asked where the chef was from—was it Ireland? The reply was no, that everyone working there is from Hungary. From my experience in Budapest, restaurants tend to serve food at a more leisurely pace.

The dining experience was truly exceptional! The heke was the best I've ever tasted, and my partner thoroughly enjoyed the mussels. If it were possible, I would dine here every single day!

We made a reservation at Mitchell's 30 days in advance, specifying it was for a special birthday celebration. We were seated at a table for six upstairs, where it was extremely noisy—so much so that it was difficult to hear anyone across the table. The food was decent, but there were several issues: the oysters were not properly shucked, the side dishes seemed pre-prepared, and one guest who couldn't have salt was only offered peas as a vegetable option, showing a lack of flexibility we hadn’t encountered before. Although we provided special birthday candles to the staff upon arrival for the dessert, when it was served, the candles were missing. Overall, the experience was quite disappointing.

We just ate lunch. Excellent service, and great food. Husband ordered clams and I had Fish cakes. Both were delicious. Presentation was awesome. One of the best meals we had in Clifden. Would eat there again.

Not sure, but this is probably the best restaurant in Clifden. We had excellent food and price is in the average. Staff is very king.
