Lakeside Cafe - West Devon
Lakeside Cafe
Description
Nestled by the picturesque Roadford Lake, this restaurant offers a stunning setting for a meal or afternoon tea. While the views captivate, the dining experience is a mixed bag. Many patrons appreciate the generous portions and freshly cooked meals, particularly praising the desserts. However, criticism often targets the inconsistent service, disorganization, and lack of options for specific dietary needs. Some describe distressing experiences with slow counter service, cold food, or grumpy staff. Despite these issues, the alluring ambiance and friendly staff occasionally win guests back, making it a spot for both delightful treats and scenic walks.

The coffee was extremely bitter, and there were no lunch choices besides pasties or sausage rolls. It's a shame because they usually serve delicious food. Overall, our visit was disappointing.
Even on a weekday in March, this charming café was bustling with activity. It's perfect for grabbing a coffee or a bite to eat after a leisurely walk, offering beautiful views of the lake on a sunny day.
I visited the cafe yesterday for the first time in a couple of years and quickly remembered why I had stayed away. The staff were very unhelpful and rude. I didn't realize at first, but it was the same woman from last time who was rude to me, and once again I left feeling upset. I can't understand how she is still working there. I can't recommend this place to any of my friends. It used to be such a nice place. What a shame.
Always friendly. Small gift shop in restaurant. Menu small choice but very good. Tables by the windows have wonderful views. We arranged my mother's 90th birthday there with about 50 people and pre booked meal very helpful manager with boards avaiable for 90 years of photos etc, and good meal. Places for children to play. They would have sorted flowers etc but one of family did that. Bar was avaiable.
