We stopped by the cafe for a spot of lunch and what a spot! Stunning views over the reservoir and plenty of well placed seating! We had a bacon roll and latte and unfortunately whilst I was ordering go tempted by the amazing looking cakes so had to have a slice each.We wobbled on for the rest of our walk and were so glad to have stopped at this lovely spot for our refreshments.Pleasant service and a welcome toilet jus... Grumpy staff, took away cups at lunchtime to prevent delegates having coffee. Buffet lunch plenty of it... all deep fried or sandwiches... no salad or fruit. No labelling for vegetarians or allergens (a legal requirement).Function room us great, free WiFi, but the staff are miserable as sin! The coffee was extremely bitter, and there were no lunch choices besides pasties or sausage rolls. It's a shame because they usually serve delicious food. Overall, our visit was disappointing.
Even on a weekday in March, this charming café was bustling with activity. It's perfect for grabbing a coffee or a bite to eat after a leisurely walk, offering beautiful views of the lake on a sunny day.
I visited the cafe yesterday for the first time in a couple of years and quickly remembered why I had stayed away. The staff were very unhelpful and rude. I didn't realize at first, but it was the same woman from last time who was rude to me, and once again I left feeling upset. I can't understand how she is still working there. I can't recommend this place to any of my friends. It used to be such a nice place. What a shame.
Rested here on return trip from family time in Cornwall. Picturesque location and a good selection of food. The staff could not have been more helpful and considerate. Will definitely be visiting again.
Nestled by the picturesque Roadford Lake, this restaurant offers a stunning setting for a meal or afternoon tea. While the views captivate, the dining experience is a mixed bag. Many patrons appreciate the generous portions and freshly cooked meals, particularly praising the desserts. However, criticism often targets the inconsistent service, disorganization, and lack of options for specific dietary needs. Some describe distressing experiences with slow counter service, cold food, or grumpy staff. Despite these issues, the alluring ambiance and friendly staff occasionally win guests back, making it a spot for both delightful treats and scenic walks.

Stopped for brunch after a quick job at the dam pumping station. The large breakfast was excellent, especially the sausages. All food was hot and the coffee was good too. The staff were friendly and polite. My window seat was the perfect place to get some work done on a wet January morning what a view!
Roadford Lake Cafe is a charming dog-friendly café with picturesque views of the lake. After taking a stroll around the area, we decided to stop by the café. The staff was welcoming, the atmosphere cozy, and the food delicious. We definitely recommend a visit to Roadford Lake Cafe.
Situated very close to the Devon Cornwall border so you can have your jam over the cream or cream over the jam on a fresh baked scone or as I did one of each yummy. Very nice cafe, very clean and staff very polite. Only bad side is the parking charge, only £2.50 at time of review, don't these water companies earn enough without having to screw pensioners and the hard pressed, no concession for the disabled either. If you try to use the parking App displayed on the board you will be disappointed as no signal, also the machine rejected my money, but the young lady in the cafe was pleased to take payment, seemed a bit miffed when I asked for the receipt. Best keep all parking receipts these days with too many Dick Turpin Car Parking companies just waiting to pounce on the unwary?
Good coffee cake, but unbelievably slow service for a meal. Ordered Chilli veg curry £12 each took OVER AN HOUR to bring out . Curry tasty but very small portion, missing the garnish, naan hard crispy. Icing on cake was the rice drowned in smoked paprika (WHY!! which made virtually inedible.
I was disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. The tea cakes were cold and toasted long before the coffees were made. The latte was also terrible - either the milk was off or the quality of the beans was poor. It was undrinkable. It's a shame because the setting is lovely.
