An all-rounder ...
No one can really imagine the onion out of food...
Whether roasted, cooked, fried, finely chopped, in rings or even as onion juice. As varied as their appearance is, so are the possible areas of application.
You can use the onion, for example, to make meat more tender. For this purpose, the onion juice is used as the basis of a marinade for marinating. This is also used for roasting on a spit. Here, however, the meat is not marinated, but wrapped with onions and spices.
Fried onions give the food a roasted and slightly sweetish touch. This is often used for stews and vegetable pans. This sweetness also makes it possible to make a non-spicy onion cake.

Besides all the possibilities of using onions in a meal or just eating them directly, onion juice is also commonly known to be a kind of cheap cough syrup. When mixed with honey, the juice can work wonders after a few hours of exposure.
Healthy, healthier, onion
Due to the antibiotic effect, the use of this homemade cough syrup can of course be proven. In addition to this effect, the onion also stimulates the human organism to reactivate its own immune system a little more to help itself.
Onions also lower blood pressure and cholesterol, so that you can eat onions without being ill. You can hardly eat too much of them - unless you have a weak stomach, in which case the onion tends to cause flatulence. With only 28 kcal per 100 grams this is also okay for your figure.
If you can help on the inside, maybe you can help on the outside... And indeed. The onion can also help with skin irritations, such as insect bites, or to heal scars.
One with no onions...
If you look further in the series of fast food dishes, you will quickly find the onion rings. Deep-fried with dough, they can be served as a side dish, just like chips.
The roasted onions on the cheese patties will make it beautifully Bavarian or Austrian. The onion rings are also a must on Pizza Tonno - but here again in raw format.
In addition, as described above, onions are often used for the flavor in dishes: meatloaf, shakshuka, goulash, etc.
Did you know?
The tears that flow when cutting onions come from the Sulphur compounds contained in the onion and released by the cutting process. However, this can be reduced a little by chilling the onion in the refrigerator beforehand.
