Amazing food, stunning location and fantastic service. We had a fantastic evening it was everything we'd expected. Nothing to fault. Great wine list, good cocktails and unusual disgestifs. Although it's quite formal we felt relaxed and our every whim was attended to. Can't wait to go back well worth the trip to the depths of Devon.
Gidleigh Park great setting, very nice sitting room for drinks and then dinner in one of the rooms set for 6 or 7 tables. Excellent quality cooking throughout. We went for the seasonal tasting menu which was excellent, fois gras, quail, pheasant etc. Service is very attentive without being over bearing.
We found the bar staff to be quite pretentious. Upon arrival, we were taken to the lounge area but then completely ignored while other guests were able to place their food and drink orders. We decided to move to the terrace, where we ordered drinks. The waiter initially tried to serve us a £25 glass of white wine, but my husband returned it and opted for a more reasonably priced £14 glass instead. Overall, the meal was quite expensive at £125 each for three courses, and my husband found his beef to be tasteless. He made sure to mention this to the waiter when we left.
