After a 1.5-hour hike, you can enjoy a magical view. The alpine pasture offers simple food at fair prices. The owner is very friendly and relaxed. Highly recommended.
Easily accessible via the forest path from Prettau. One of the most rustic huts I've ever seen! Owned by the Steger family since time immemorial. Oswald Steger, the innkeeper, is a true character: authentic, genuine, friendly, and lovable. Senior innkeeper Erich (95) still visits the alpine pasture every day and works in the stables. The menu is small, but the cheese dumpling soup is incredibly delicious! From the hut, you can set off on beautiful ski tours or other mountain hikes and ascents. Fantastic views of the Ahrntal Valley! I love this hut and the Stegers!
The Stegeralm is a wonderful place in the heart of the Dolomites. After a lovely hike through the snowy forest, Osvaldo welcomed us to the refuge, offering us dumplings in broth, sausage, and potatoes, and a warm welcome. We'll definitely be back in the summer.
Stunning views, easy to reach, 500m elevation gain.
Beautiful alpine pasture near Prettau. The Alm is beautifully located at the top of the mountain. The path is well marked from Prettau. The hut can also be reached via Kasern if you first go towards Rötalm and then towards Bruggeralm. The Alm itself is well managed and the owners are super friendly. The food is great alpine fare and drinks are great. It's worth a visit because such alpine pastures are no longer a given. We were lucky that our grandfather played tremor for us, a great experience. We will definitely come back again
