Jacks Eatery - North Devon
Jacks Eatery
Description
Captain Jack's, a charming eatery with a nautical vibe, has received mixed feedback from patrons. Many appreciate the friendly staff and inviting atmosphere, with some highlighting tasty dishes like Tennessee BBQ spare ribs and customizable meals for dietary needs. However, concerns about service delays, inconsistent food quality, and pricing have also emerged. While some enjoyed delightful desserts, others expressed disappointment, deeming meals like the "Mac and cheese" unsatisfactory. Despite the challenges, the restaurant remains a popular choice for locals and visitors, offering a cozy spot for drinks and meals, especially during the bustling summer months.

The food was amazing, especially the Tennessee BBQ spare ribs. They were cooked perfectly and are my favorite dish. The restaurant also had a great selection of beers, lagers, and ciders.
There is no service down in this place, also not very kid friendly , but as I’m here let me get to the main issue the food was disgusting especially their so called “Mac and cheese” it didn’t taste like cheese at all, very very watery and no flavour , the prices for the portion sizes are an absolute ridiculous. My daughter didn’t even touch her whole meal and when I asked to speak to the manager about a refund as we had already paid a stupid amount for all the food all he had to say was “no t’s not our fault you don’t like it”, no one came over once to check how any of our food was or to clear all the plates, this place needs to clearly hire more staff and learn more about customer service and how to be professional! We will never be wasting our time on this place again. We was definitely better off eating at the chippy next door.
This charming pub has a lovely beer garden filled with sunlight. I enjoyed a delicious pint of Sandford Orchards traditional cider and found the staff to be friendly. Plus, there is also a pool table available. I highly recommend this place.
I visited Woolacombe earlier this month (November 2022) and was pleased to find Captain Jack's open on a dark and dreary Tuesday evening. Many eateries were closed for the winter, so it was a pleasant surprise to enjoy a tasty meal there. I particularly enjoyed the generously-portioned falafel salad. The staff were friendly and the nautical decor added to the charm of the restaurant. It's worth noting that they don't serve food every night off-season, so it's best to check in advance. Overall, I would highly recommend Captain Jack's even if other places were open in the area.
