Reviews - Jacks Eatery
Reviews summary
Captain Jack's, a charming eatery with a nautical vibe, has received mixed feedback from patrons. Many appreciate the friendly staff and inviting atmosphere, with some highlighting tasty dishes like Tennessee BBQ spare ribs and customizable meals for dietary needs. However, concerns about service delays, inconsistent food quality, and pricing have also emerged. While some enjoyed delightful desserts, others expressed disappointment, deeming meals like the "Mac and cheese" unsatisfactory. Despite the challenges, the restaurant remains a popular choice for locals and visitors, offering a cozy spot for drinks and meals, especially during the bustling summer months.

I went here with my family a year or so ago and 2 years before that and I loved the atmosphere, the team were lovely and friendly. The food was brilliant! I’m gutted that I’ve come from wales to visit again and it’s closed for maintenance until the 10th Feb. Hope to try visit again next year now View all feedback.

Nice Saturday lunch in Captain Jacks. I had the Garden Vegan Burger and my wife had the Falafel Salad. Drinks were good, the pub had a nice atmosphere and service was great we asked for some olives in the salad and they were kindly provided. The specials looked good but as we were walking back to Croyde we just fancied a light bite.
Had lunch with friends here and found the food to be of high quality and a reasonable price to for the area. Allergen information is well listed on the menu and the chef was happy to change my friends ordered dish to accommodate her. Wasn't a really warm day so we sat inside. which was a shame because the outdoor area looks very good. Pub is atmospheric and they let us use the pool table for free. Overall enjoyed and the only slight negative was the place was showing signs of general wear and tear. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!
My partner and I fancied an ice cream after dinner so went to Captain Jacks I had profiteroles and he had the Jacks sundae! Both were so tasty and well presented!

This charming pub has a lovely beer garden filled with sunlight. I enjoyed a delicious pint of Sandford Orchards traditional cider and found the staff to be friendly. Plus, there is also a pool table available. I highly recommend this place.
There is no service down in this place, also not very kid friendly , but as I’m here let me get to the main issue the food was disgusting especially their so called “Mac and cheese” it didn’t taste like cheese at all, very very watery and no flavour , the prices for the portion sizes are an absolute ridiculous. My daughter didn’t even touch her whole meal and when I asked to speak to the manager about a refund as we had already paid a stupid amount for all the food all he had to say was “no t’s not our fault you don’t like it”, no one came over once to check how any of our food was or to clear all the plates, this place needs to clearly hire more staff and learn more about customer service and how to be professional! We will never be wasting our time on this place again. We was definitely better off eating at the chippy next door.
A group of friends and I were having drinks in the beer garden so decided to stay for food (our first time under the changed management/ ownership). The staff are always very friendly and welcoming, and this visit was no different. All food was ordered at the same time but split into two to pay, unfortunately another table was served between our two tickets so some of our table were halfway through their food when the second set of meals arrived. The food was good a few little items could have been better however, overall it was a good meal. One person had hunters chicken which was tasty but due to the chicken being butterflied it was slightly over cooked/ dry but was still edible and had good flavour. The only other thing that springs to mind is that the bottom of the soft boa rolls were hard and couldn’t be eaten. Overall, a nice meal and would definitely eat there again.
