Was Dellandco at Fox Goose a mag?
What fabulous food this pub serves, so good actually we went twice during our holiday nearby. The staff were really friendly, two lovely girls serving at the bar and delivering to tables, nothing too much trouble for them. We had an excellent salmon dish the first night which was a generous portion with lovely sauté potatoes and beautifully cooked vegetables we thought this was excellent value for money given the qua... We stayed locally and were able to walk to the Fox Goose from our accommodation. The Fox Goose is ideally situated either at the start or finish of a circular walk. We were recommended to the Fox Goose by our hosts who suggested that they offer a wonderful sunday lunch. We were not disappointed it was amazing both the meat and nut roast options. I think a very fair price for the portion size and quality and my wife even squeezed in a porion of Christmas pudding. The decor is very modern and the restaurant was fully booked at lunchtime so make sure you prebook. The only suggestions would be that it could be a little warmer inside (Not the food) not sure if there is an open fire that they could light. In additional we found it very quiet and it could really do with some soft background music as the atmosphere was a little flat. All in all an excellent find and we would certainly recommend and hope to return when we are back in the area in Nov
Appearances can be so deceptive. From the utside this is an unprepossessing and down-at-heel country put where the only food on offer would be a bag of crisps. The inside is a transformation though: clean, modern and with an extensive menu. Amd what a menu: at least four types of fish and meat, starters and sharers in abundance and even more than the usual one vegetarian option. Enough desserts to satisfy any craving. The menu descriptions were good and what we saw coming out made us want to try all of it. We visited twice and worked our way through the venison, the duck, and the fish (skate) as mains and the Camembert and the smoked fish starters and the chocolate dessert. All were first class: well cooked, generous portions and, with the mains, plenty of vegetables. The potatoes we found particularly good. Service was speedy but not rushed and staff excellent. The beer was good and well-kept. Prices were very reasonable we thought: about for two. Downsides? None really, except that it's off-the-beaten track. But don't let this put you off: find this lovely little pub, enjoy the menu and go home feeling replete and contented. We did. Twice.
We stayed for a long weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The room was large and very well fitted out. Lovely wooden furniture. Bathroom was very spacious and modern. Staff were extremely friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The breakfast was exceptional. We are here for dinner too both nights. The food available was of very high quality and delicious.
A fantastic selection of home cooked food. We had fish and chips and burger and chips. Both meals were very good quality and cooked to perfection. All staff are friendly and happy to help. We took our dog who was made very welcome. Can’t wait to go back again soon.
During our vacation in the area, we enjoyed three meals at the Fox and Goose and were impressed by the excellent food. The venison stood out as the best I have ever had, with large, tender fillets. The menu was extensive and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely dine there again.
