Temperance Hotel - Melbourne

Love this place! A huge group of us came for drinks on a Saturday night and all had a brilliant time. <br/ <br/ The drinks were reasonably priced and the food looked amazing even though I didn't have any myself. Staff were friendly and really quick to clean up and take care of people. <br/ <br/ Smoking area is big and well kept and the DJ was brilliant!

Stopped in here on my way to an appt SO glad I did! Beautiful interior, very cosy with a warm fire. Very modern/industrial fit out... very cool. Food was beautiful, service was fantastic. Definitely coming back :

Size of sparkling serve was a fraction over 100ml. Barman said that, in Australia, the standard serve size is 125ml not 150ml as we have had at all previous venues. Also,for the 100ml serve, the last 40ml from an open bottle was poured and the balance from yet another open bottle. RESULT Sparking flat and tasteless. As we had already commented on the serve size with no satisfaction we just crossed this venue off our places to go.

I had been at The Temperance a few times, it had been fun in the past. Unfortunately, on this Monday night, the staff had no interest in making their customers feel welcome. A friend had accidentally spilled a drink... I politely asked one of the bar staff to wipe the table. After asking politely, the bar girl handed me a couple of serviettes and expected me to wipe the table for her. Bad attitude, bad service, not what you would expect from a bar that wants more customers. 1 out of 10.

Dropped in here for a quick drink at lunchtime on a Sunday whilst on a mini break in Melbourne. Friendly staff and we sat at the bench looking out on to Chapel Street. Great place to have a couple of drinks and relax. They have outdoor seating, a little courtyard out the back and a cool bar space inside. Worth dropping in if you're in the area.
