After having visited Nirankar we personally feel it's the most underrated restaurant that has not received the kind of attention it deserve. It's way better than many (So Called) well known restaurants What also is quite interesting about this restaurant is they do Nepalese Cuisine as well. Ordered Lamb Cutlet, Squid Masala, Chilly Chicken, lamb Madras, Phelwa (Nepalese Fish Curry), Rice And Roti Basket. Lamb Cutlets... View all feedback.
What Ladarius Cole doesn't like about Nirankar:
Service was average. Not bad but really not great. Food was also average. Somosa was cold in the middle. Cauliflower was nothing to write home about. It was the only place we could get into without a reservation and after having been there it was clear why that was. Don’t get me wrong ... there was nothing bad about the place. There just wasn’t a lot great about it. View all feedback.
A good variety of meals. Lovely authentic flavour. Good atmosphere and value for money in central Queen St location. We had goat curry, cheese n veg kofta, naan and pea rice. Plenty for two people. The service was friendly and attentive. Would definitely come again.
This was my first visit to the venue. I booked via The Fork, and promptly seated on arrival to the venue. I ordered a signature nepalese goat curry, medium spice. The curry was beautifully divine, and goat was fall off the bone, with a good kick of spice (without watery eyes). On the side, I had a generous serving of mango chutney, flaky garlic paratha, and roti. I ate enough for two, and unable to fill dessert in at the venue, I opted to take home the gulab jamun which was perfectly sweet and delicious. Excellent quality curry in the heart of Melbourne.

But overall, everything we ordered was amazing. No complains at all. Service was very very very good and the pricing wasn't too bad too. Definitely returning.
Average Indian Restaurant Why Melbourne cannot have a decent Indian restaurant and unlike London/UK- or Dubai or Singapore?
A week in Melbourne. Our first visit. We spent the first three nights trawling the City Centre to find something worth eating. We didn't find anywhere. Frustration on frustration BUT on our nightly trawl we stumbled on NIRANKAR and our need to trawl the streets ended. Splendid curries, cooked with flavour and delicacy. Fantastic staff too. Friendly, helpful and generous. If you find you are fed up with trawling the streets in search of exceptional food on offer all at good value please take heed of this review!
