Was Ozzy-Kunnu at Nirankar a mag?
After having visited Nirankar we personally feel it's the most underrated restaurant that has not received the kind of attention it deserve. It's way better than many (So Called) well known restaurants What also is quite interesting about this restaurant is they do Nepalese Cuisine as well. Ordered Lamb Cutlet, Squid Masala, Chilly Chicken, lamb Madras, Phelwa (Nepalese Fish Curry), Rice And Roti Basket. Lamb Cutlets... View all feedback.
What Ladarius Cole dislikes about Nirankar:
Service was average. Not bad but really not great. Food was also average. Somosa was cold in the middle. Cauliflower was nothing to write home about. It was the only place we could get into without a reservation and after having been there it was clear why that was. Don’t get me wrong ... there was nothing bad about the place. There just wasn’t a lot great about it. View all feedback.

What started as a quest for a quick, casual bite before heading out to a Monday night Comedy Show turned in to a meal to remember. We called ahead to check that we could BYO bottled wine and were happy to find we could. The $7 corkage is never a problem when restaurants treat you with respect and also bring an ice bucket - what great service, after all, they have to wash the glasses we used! Anyway... to the meal. Well the samosas were so authentic and a great starter. We then shared a tandoori sizzle platter which was delicious. The goat curry was on our agenda but by that stage we were filling up so switched to a beautiful and light prawn curry with rice. The staff were so attentive and very happy for us to order one course at a time (which is know many restaurants do not like). It was not busy (I cannot understand why) so they let us take our time. I am not going to tell you what the final bill was - it was almost embarrassing given the amazing food we had enjoyed. Needless to say, we topped it up with a well deserved tip.
We chose to eat here because we felt like curry. We had a busy day of tourist activities and were hungry. We ate our way through pakoras, tandoori mushroom, Nepalese goat curry, Burmese fish curry, rice, and finished our meal with kulfi for dessert. Delicious food with lots of flavours. We were asked how spicy we wanted our food, it was all medium as requested. This is a lovely restaurant to eat at. Our meal was under $100Recommend this restaurant
The restaurant is located quite central and not far from the hostel we were staying. The prices are reasonable, although not very cheap. The food was great, and I enjoyed particularly the butter chicken. The place is quite and comfortable.
Family of 4 attended. All was very pleasant. Nice food and service. We used a voucher that gave a 25% discount too and that was worthwhile.
Wanting to try new a new restaurant I checked Trip Advisor and discovered Nirankar. Positive reviews so booking made for 1900.Easy to tram to (#96) and only a minutes walk. Met by attentive staff in very pleasant surroundings.Ordered drinks and dinner, and while we waited, fresh waiter poppadoms were delivered complimentary and were yum!Entree of chicken Momo also was delicious. Had already decidedly on Chicken with Pistachios Korma, also divine. Garlic Prawn Masala had just enough heat to go with Green Puloa rice, and the Raita and Kashmiri Naan were great accompanying extras.Washed down with a nice glass of wine! This great little restaurant in the city would have got a 5 star rating but for two reasons;1. The very attentive staff were overtly attentive and reached across in front of diners to clear away a dish ......sometimes less is more, discreet and unobserved would enhance the experience. Can't fault politeness and food quality2. Very loud group of men who arrived half way through our meal and made no effort to extend curtesy to the other tables of diners. Neither did the staff who were aware of others regularly looking at the group due to the volume but did nothing. it did spoil an otherwise pleasant experience.Would we go back? The food was fabulous and I might offer a second chance, let's hope it was a one off event.Visit Nirankar I'm sure you'll be surprised.
Located in Melbourne CBD, Nirankar is an Indian restaurant that has received mixed reviews. Some diners found the service and food to be average, with dishes like the somosa and cauliflower lacking excitement. However, others praised the restaurant for its delicious Nepalese cuisine, with standout dishes like Lamb Cutlets and Squid Masala. The service was noted to be exceptional, and the pricing was considered reasonable. Overall, Nirankar is a convenient option for those looking for good Indian food in the area, although diners should be cautious about over-ordering to avoid food wastage.

A good variety of meals. Lovely authentic flavour. Good atmosphere and value for money in central Queen St location. We had goat curry, cheese n veg kofta, naan and pea rice. Plenty for two people. The service was friendly and attentive. Would definitely come again.
Average Indian Restaurant Why Melbourne cannot have a decent Indian restaurant and unlike London/UK- or Dubai or Singapore?
Nirankar an Indian restaurant on queens street Melbourne CBD offers good Indian food nice ambience convenient locatiom good staff and reasonably priced option. Have been many times for lunch and dinner. Always a choice around that area.
We dined here with friends and enjoyed a long lunch on a Wednesday. We were never hurried or pushed. The staff are accommodating and discreet and the food is delicious. The menu offers an array of banquets and the menu is extensive. Gluten free and vegetarian diners are well catered for here. Wouldn't hesitate in recommending Nirankar nor coming back for more!

This restaurant is charming, the food was enjoyable although a bit expensive. The service was good and the atmosphere was pleasant. I would definitely return and recommend this place.
Visited on 23 Dec 2020. A young girl in 20s, was our waitress that evening. I'm giving 4 stars just because of her fantastic work. Ambience is good and food was served quick. Taste wise, food is ok. Nepalese food options were few. What I had? Mint, lemon, Ginger ale juice 5/5 Mango lasso 5/5 Tandoori Chicken 4/5 (can be more succulent Prawn was very succulent 4/5 Fish fry 3/5 (very less fish, recipe is same as prawn Kashmiri naan 2/5 Paneer curry 3/5 Goat curry 4/5 Chicken curry 3/5 Pistachio kulfi 5/5
This is the best Indian food I have ever had in Melbourne. I am very satisfied with the level of spice in the dishes - just the way Indians like it! It is definitely worth every dollar spent and is very affordable.
This Indian restaurant is one of the best in the city. I always recommend getting the medium or hot curry, along with the Rogan Josh lamb and Butter Chicken to go with the rice and garlic naan. They also have a good selection of wines, including NZ Pinot Gris. The service is excellent as well.
Nirankar is a nice little restaurant with lots of food options!! The food was amazing but staff’s were not much of a help in explaining the dishes properly. We ordered 4 dishes and they all were served on time with great flavours/ portion size. The only criticism I would give is “Table setting” where they have added a huge piece of paper on top of every tables, so that the staffs don’t have to clean or change the table cloths! Otherwise the food was delicious with great flavours and we will definitely be back!!
