We are regular patrons of this gorgeous establishment in south yarra, after a 6 month hiatus, we were so very disappointed in the meal and service. We ordered a $90 bottle of wine and we had to ask 3 times for our glasses to be refilled (after they were empty for 15 minutes). The Octopus on the specials menu was overcooked and chewy, we sent it back to the kitchen-we appreciate not being charged for this. The service was slow, my main The Rockling was overcooked and lacked flavour, so disappointed to be honest, sorry Bistro Gitan but you'll have to try a little harder- very sad. We won't be back for a while until you pick up your game....
I probably come to Bistro Gitan once a month for business, family and friends. One of the things I like is the consistency of food and staff. It's professional and friendly and on a cold night, the open fire and bar area is a warm ambience.
This places oozes atmosphere and has equally great food and wine. All our dishes were delicious and we felt very welcome, look forward to returning some time soon.
Such a great French bistrot! Everything we tried was absolutely delicious Even the desserts were simple but they done it right , Service was lovely just wish when the french lady explain the menu need to slowing down and clear . But overall, really enjoyed it! Definitely will coming back Meal type: Dinner Price per person: A$120–140 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
I spent 8 minutes pacing back and forth around the restaurant because I didn’t know where the entrance was, so that was great. Anyways, order the piccata of chicken livers. I am convinced the only reason this restaurant is still open, is because of the piccata of chicken livers. It’s the best dish and the only reason I would ever come back. Did I mention how great the chicken livers were? Servers are very attentive, I left to go to the bathroom and they refolded my napkin lolololol. P.S get the piccata of chicken livers.
