A visit to Providence House was a wonderful meal in glorious setting. The three course set menu offered Samon, ny steak and seafood canalonni with appatizer and dessert. We drank the bottled on site apple cider; delicious! The drive to the farm is lovely and we walked round the garden admiring the efforts of the gardener's. View all feedback.
This is a gourmet restaurant with a limited daily menu based on local fresh food. The outdoor area is beautiful, with live entertainment from the farm **** and cat. While my salmon was delicious, the hero of the night was excellently cooked the accompanying vegetables and so tasteful. I had the olives delicious as a starter. My wife had the house bacon wrapped shrimps that were just as wonderful. This is a very special place.
This is a wonderful place to eat with great service, price and quality food. An additional bonus is the beautiful gardens in the back where some of the foods are cultivated.
We went to this restaurant out of curiosity. It is situated in a farm with historic background. You find out more more when you visit the farm. We went for dinner. A 3 course dinner with three options to choose. NY Steak, Braised Providence Chicken or Madras Curry Sockeye Salmon. Price range from $26, $25, $25. And you also choose Lentil Quinoa Phylio $19) or West Coast Seafood Cannelloni $22). I chose NY Steak, with Duck Breast as first course and Coconut Banana Creme Burlee as my dessert. My sister chose Duck Breast, Braised Chicken and Cherry Cheesecake. The duck breast was good except there were too much of vinegar on the salad. The New York Steak is a bit dry. The banana cream burlee is a failure because it is like a hard custard. I only took two bites. My sister Braised Chicken was ok nothing special. The cherry cheesecake was like a sponge cake. The cooks mainly are students from Vancouver Island University Culinary Program. It has been an experience there.
The Cowichan Valley has many excellent restaurants to choose from and some are harder to find this restaurant was recommended but took a while to find but well worth the effort. The food was outstanding, service attentive and pleasant and the meals (all 3 course) were about $20/25 excellent value. Will definitely be going again and soon.
We have always experienced high end cuisine at reasonable prices. Great place to go for a nice dinner especially if you have limited funds. This is a great program to keep supporting.
