We made a dinner reservation earlier in the week for 6. We were seated and ordered our appys and mains together as well as wine as we had time to decide prior to ordering. We waited over a hour for our appys and when we inquired we were told they were in the process of plating so we waited an additional 15 minutes. We had finished our appys and waited again for our mains. Dinner was over 2 1/2 hours. Tasty but very small servings so most of our dinner was spent waiting. The bill was nearly $400 with a big markup on local wines. No apologies for the waits from staff or management as I would have at least expected.
Wonderful ambience and food amazing, especially the desserts, they were to die for. Hardly wait to go back
This is a top notch restaurant in the most unexpected place. Food is "fancy" and delicious. The service is excellent and the drinks are great too. I had the carpaccio and it was fantastic. My mum and my sister were a little shocked when I ordered the carpaccio. Raw beef scares them. But when they saw how much I was enjoying it they both wanted to try it and they loved it as much as I did. They make their own pickles and they were so good I found out where they get their cucumbers and got some myself for canning. Really love that they support the local farmers. I also had an Old fashioned and it was the best one I've ever had. This restaurant is in the lower floor of an old house, which is really cool and they also have a lovely patio.
Delicious and creative menu with local ingredients. The liver parfait was hearty, house made salami charcuterie tasty and the poached ling cod was amazing.
Anyone who thrives in a Michelin star restaurant will appreciate Hudsons on First, the latest addition to the restaurant scene in Duncan. Opened in October, 2012, it has already shot the rows of restaurants in CowichanValley, attracting clients from far and wide, as their reputation for fine restaurants spreads. It definitely has the ante for other restorers in the area, and with good reason...
