Menu

A comprehensive menu of Canalside from Daventry featuring all 9 meals and drinks can be found here on the menu.

Nestled near Brindley Place, Canalside Cafe enchants with its quirky decor and cozy atmosphere, featuring mismatched furniture and a scenic canal view. Patrons appreciate the hearty breakfast options and budget-friendly prices, though service can be slow, especially during busy times. While the menu could benefit from more vegan options, the freshly cooked meals generally receive praise. Guests enjoy the warm hospitality, often noting the attentive staff. For a relaxed outing with drinks or a sweet treat, this cafe offers a delightful experience—perfect on sunny days, albeit with some room for enhancement in service efficiency.

Was Lindsay C at Canalside a mag?
This charming little pub/cafe has a cozy atmosphere, featuring warm fireplaces inside and outdoor seating by the canal, perfect for watching the barges go by. Although we didn't try the food, they offer omelettes and various baked goods, including cakes and pastries. We only stopped by for drinks and really enjoyed our experience. The bar is well-stocked, and hot beverages are also available. View all feedback.

What Adrian B dislikes about Canalside:
During two separate visits, our straightforward bar orders were delivered incorrectly and needed to be fixed, much to the irritation of the staff member who served us (the same person both times). While mistakes can happen, the dirty cutlery (see photo) added to our disappointment, leading us to decide not to come back. View all feedback.

The menu focuses on classic homemade comfort food, including staples like cottage pie and baked potatoes, all at reasonable prices. Just keep your expectations in check; it's good but not gourmet. If you find yourself craving breakfast later in the day, they serve it all day for just £5. The staff are efficient and will get your food and drinks to you in a timely manner, though don’t expect overly friendly service. The drink selection is quite good too, especially if you enjoy real ale on tap. Overall, it’s a lovely spot to unwind.

This place has a great location and a cute quirky look. But they didn't have any savoury vegan options available when I went there. And it took them a really long time to serve me. It's fine if you want a quick cake or drink. But I think that if they want to serve food, they should give more options for a vegan.
