The Centennial - Concord
The Centennial
Description
A charming, historic spot with a chic, cozy atmosphere and generally friendly, attentive service—popular for celebrations. Drinks and several dishes earn praise, though food quality is inconsistent: salmon is often overcooked/salty, crème brûlée too runny, and portions sometimes small for the price. Service ranges from superb to rushed or slow, and the in-house menu can differ from online. The attached Victorian inn shows character but has dated rooms, peeling wallpaper, limited housekeeping, and occasional front-desk accessibility issues.

We enjoyed everything about our experience. The drinks were great, as was the food. The service was friendly and well-timed, and the atmosphere chic and cozy.Would definitely recommend.
Food was excellent and prepared to perfection. Very relaxing setting. All the staff was courteous and friendly. We also ended up with the best waitress, Lucy. Allows right there but not hovering. She was very accommodating and pleasant. The food was GREAT but the service was better!!
I stayed here on a business trip. Let me tell you--the photos do not represent what the rooms look like. The hotel is poorly lit at night; I arrived late, in fog and missed the hotel initially. I expect a Victorian home to have charm and character, so creaky floors and sounds old houses make are expected--but the wallpaper is peeling off, the carpet is dirty and the hotel is not nearly as bright on the inside as the pictures depict. You can certainly feel the historical aspect of the property while you 're there--it was like stepping back in time, to me. They did tell me when I checked in that housekeeping only occurred every 3 days and to let them know if I needed more towels or washcloths. Onto a more important point, I was frustrated when I checked out because no one was at the front desk; I checked out around 7am. When you call their main line, you are asked to give an access code; I 've emailed them twice and got a reply that my message was blocked. Very frustrated with this process, as I need a receipt for my business travels. I will say the front desk staff I interacted with while I stayed was friendly. We even discussed how some think there are friendly ghosts on the property. If that 's your thing, you 'll probably pick up on that vibe right away. Overall: I would not stay again.
Leah was great! I suggest the restaurant implement a no cell phone call policy. I don't need to hear other people's personal/useless conversations.
The atmosphere and service were ideal for celebrating my mom's 93rd birthday. She thoroughly enjoyed herself, and our server was very attentive and helpful. I do have two pieces of feedback: first, the seared salmon was overcooked, even though I requested it medium rare, which is a tricky dish to get just right. Second, while the Crème brûlée was a bit runny, it was delicious.
