Sad to say this is one of the worst bbq places I’ve eaten at. The brisket was served to use pretty cold/ room temperature. The Mac and cheese was spicy? I’m sure others would like that but I wish it said that on the menu. The corn bread was dry, cold, and clearly pre made packaged corn bread. The meat was smoked but it tasted like chemicals. Maybe a different method of smoking but it was not good, even with the bbq sauce they served. (Which didn’t taste like bbq at all) My husband loved the Cole slaw.
The food was decent, but the presence of flies is extremely off-putting. It's unhygienic and something definitely needs to be addressed. Not acceptable at all.
As a newcomer to Kansas City, I've found it's essential to satisfy my cravings for good BBQ every now and then. This restaurant definitely delivers. The brisket and ribs are delicious! I also appreciate the laid-back, rustic vibe of the place. However, it would be great if they invested in a fly zapper.
Good spot and not too expensive. Authentic vibe. A healthy dose of grease and salt!
Amazing bbq food!!! We tried all of the meat options and they were all delicious and cooked perfectly. We were not huge fans of the Mac and cheese since it was a little spicy. All of the other sides were great! The outdoor seating was nice too.
Nestled in a seemingly unassuming location, this restaurant offers a blend of reviews that highlight both its culinary highs and lows. Diners rave about the moist and succulent ribs and brisket, applauding the authentic Texas-style BBQ. However, inconsistency prevails, with complaints of dry meats and unremarkable sides like coleslaw and mac and cheese. Service is a double-edged sword, as patrons report encountering rude behavior from the owner, leading some long-time customers to reconsider their loyalty. While the flavors are appreciated by some, others find the quality lacking—prompting a cautious approach for potential visitors.

The place may not be the greatest to look at but HOLY COW! Literally. The Ribs and the Brisket fell from above. They are moist and succulent, with or without barbecue sauce. Tried them both and they rock. Hats off to the place. I'm from the Bronx and will travel for this for sure! OFTEN!
I was very disappointed with my take-out experience at the restaurant on Wednesday evening 2/9/22. I ordered the 3 Meat Combination - ribs, brisket, and sausage - along with a side of fried okra. Unfortunately, all three meats were dry and seemed to be a few days old based on their color. They had a good flavor but were on the salty side. The brisket had a good rub but was very dried out. The BBQ sauce was tangy and vinegar-based, but it didn't do much to enhance the flavor of the meats. The fried okra was decent, but nothing special. I hope to give this restaurant another try on a day when the smoked meats are fresher and better prepared.
Someone below wrote Texas has nothing to worry about with this place' and boy, that's the truth. It's not very good and despite its humble' roadside presentation and surroundings, it ain't cheap by any stretch.I'm sad to report that Round Up was a big disappointment. The sides I sampled were mac and cheese and potato salad. In a good barbecue spot, potato salad is something more than mustard and mayonnaise on undercooked potatoes. Mac and cheese is something more than supermarket ziti in Velveeta. No more, no less. Bottom line is- there's no one here who really knows how to cook. The most disappointing meat on the menu is the sausage which in most barbecue spots is the highlight of my trip. Here, they're literally serving ShopRite Hot Italian sausage that someone tossed into the smoker. Huge disappointment. To their credit, they do know how to render ribs and brisket to the point of falling apart without drying it out , however if the taste of your smoke isn't particularly good, it's just expensive gooey meat.I paid almost 40 bucks for a three meat combo with two sides and they have the nerve to add 3% because you use a credit card. Because at $37 they didn't make enough money to cover the cost of doing business with supermarket grade ingredients? Find another spot, you'll be glad you did.
Hands down the best Texas-style BBQ in the entire tristate area. Yes, I said it. Looks like nothing from the road, but don't be fooled super authentic smoked meats, all the traditional comfort food sides, and tangy barbecue sauce. Worth the trip from anywhere!

Not sure how this place has almost 5 stars. People were really nice so I feel bad leaving this review. Brisket was very good, Mac and cheese was good. A little different as there is a little cayenne powder in it to spice it. Paid $27 for a rack of ribsthat were mushy, grey, and fell right off the bone. For those who know, you don?t want ?fall off the bone? ribs. Chicken wasjust OK.
Near perfect. I am from South Texas and can honestly say this is the best bbq I have had outside the lone star state. Brisket was perfect. Fried okra was perfect. Potato salad was great, my woman loved the cornbread. Im around 65 miles from theirlocation but will most definitely be coming back, often!
The sample plate is a perfect amount of food for two. Everything is tender and falls off the bone. Sauce was pretty typical though.
The cook and cashier were friendly. The food portion was big. We had Fried okra and we like it.
This may be the best BBQ I've had outside of Texas. The brisket has a perfect char (make sure to ask for burnt ends if possible). The pork ribs and sweet sausage were delicious. You can tell the mac cheese is made from scratch, not a box, andhas a bit of a kick to it. Even the corn bread was great. And it's affordable by NY BBQ standards. Can't wait to go back!
