However, the food that arrived was delicious and the staff were very friendly. I?d recommendthis place, and in particular the BLT sandwich. The prices here are also very reasonable.

It was packed on a Sunday morning, and si... read more I don’t understand why this place is so popular. I was visiting a friend who insisted on taking me here for breakfast. It was packed on a Sunday morning, and since I wanted to sit outside because of COVID, the only spot available was squeezed between another table and the hostess stand. The atmosphere was terrible—a French bulldog nearby was barking nonstop, there was constant traffic noise right next to our table, servers kept bumping into us in the cramped space, and motorcycles were roaring past. The prices were outrageous—this isn’t NYC! My coffee was so bitter it was almost undrinkable. Although my friend wasn’t as bothered by the atmosphere, she agreed that the food was overpriced and has declined in quality.

I’ve been here several times before, original... read more After a challenging hike at Breakneck Ridge, my friend and I stopped at Hudson Hil’s for lunch this past Saturday. I’ve been here several times before, originally on the recommendation of a friend who grew up nearby in Garrison, and it’s always been excellent. This visit was no exception—it was fantastic. I warned my friend that there’s often a wait, especially around 1 PM, so we should expect a 20 to 30-minute delay. But we were seated within three minutes. From my experience, the porch seating is also wonderful, offering a charming, rustic B&B feel with great views of the main road and excellent people-watching opportunities. It was about 90 degrees that day, so it might not have been the most comfortable spot, but we would have gladly sat there anyway. I was starving after the hike and ordered the Biscuits and Gravy ($17.95), which came with eggs and country potatoes. It was delicious. I may be a bit biased since food always tastes better after exertion, but this meal definitely deserved praise. The gravy was perfectly thick with bits of Canadian bacon, the scrambled eggs were moist without being watery, and the potatoes were seasoned just right. The portion was generous—I completely devoured it and didn’t eat again until the next morning. My friend ordered the country fried steak and eggs and also enjoyed her meal, even ending up with leftovers to bring home. I’ve had minor service issues here before, but this time it was a smooth operation. Our waitress was friendly and extremely efficient. Our food arrived in about 10 minutes, and I noticed nearby tables were served just as quickly. Overall, a fantastic dining experience after a rewarding hike.

The building is charming, but the small dining area feels overcrowded and no longer fits their popularity. Although the food wasn’t piping hot, it tasted fresh and absolutely delicious. We visited on a Sunday, so longer wait times were expected. Given their large following, a bigger space would definitely make sense. Despite almost deciding to leave, we waited about 1.5 hours to be seated because we appreciate good, reliable food. The service was decent, and considering how busy they were, I can’t fault them too much.
