We ordered several small plates, including crudo (raw sushi-grade fish with daikon), sourdough bread accompanied by olive oil and salt, chicken liver with cherry mustard seed, beets with chevre, winter squash, charcuterie, and my husband's favorite, the burrata (bread with mozzarella and herbs). To top off our meal, we indulged in potato donuts with orange chantilly and chocolate pudding with coffee whipped cream, re... View all feedback.
What Laron Ankunding doesn't like about Basta:
2 small pizzas for take out cost $62. Really expensive. Unique ingredient combination was just okay. Crust was great. $7.50 slice not worth it. Even if price was half, still would not be worth it. Just my opinion. Maybe will go back one day to try something non-pizza.
Starter salad was tasteful and generously cut. Wood fired pizza was delicious and worth waiting. Calzone was ok, but the filling was not sufficiently heated by the size. Have a glass of wine and enjoy company. Outside the eating pads were heated and Kovid protocols were present. Would try again.
This is an outstanding neighborhood eatery. Simply, decor including white walls, tons of wood stacked for the wood oven, and clever lighting. The food is fresh and fun with wood-fire pizzas, seriously delicious and farm fresh vegetable dishes, and whole fish with the crispiest most gorgeous skin ever. Staff is super attentive but not overbearing. The 10 minute drive from Pearl Street is well worth it!
I'm speechless so I'll be brief. The service here is superior. The food is exquisite and the drinks are savoy. The ice cream tastes like the beautifully decorated ambiance. The music was a little loud for our conversation but I probably wouldn't change anything else.
Cool vibe, nice place. I ordered the smoked olives appetizer (amazing) and a friend and I each ordered a pizza with a cocktail to drink. You can tell this place prides themselves in carrying high end ingredients and that they want you to have an exceptional experience. Unfortunately, we were the second table seated and probably the first pizza in the wood burning oven of the night. It seemed the oven may not have been hot enough yet to cook our pizzas correctly. I ordered the Peppers pizza and it had basil on it, not the oregano the menu had described. We had leftovers, and to our surprise, our pizza was shoved and folded like an accordion into a small plastic togo box. Very odd. Don 't forget the 22% service fee , just raise your prices, that 's tacky.
