Another reviewer mentioned that the holes in the wall restaurant with good vegetarian options, despite the lackluster ambiance, has good food especially their sandwiches. Additionally, a Christmas buffet had mixed reviews - bland turkey and ham, but a good wine list and nice service. However, Chuck's Steakhouse received overwhelmingly positive reviews for their excellent food, great service, and pleasant ambiance. A must-visit for steak lovers in Banff.
We found this as one of the only restaurants that are open for christmas. it was not crowded and eating was in order, although nothing to write home. there were not many people, so they could not expose the presidential elections. we were happy with the buffet and look forward to finding a place open to christmas. service was good for a reduced staff. the wine list was good. it was a bit expensive for what we got, buffet food, truthahn, ham and overcooked steak, we like rare and the next thing was (not even pink in the middle). the turkey was dry and also the ham. as if everything was prepared, it was set up on the day before and with the minimum staff. if they had tried a little harder, it could have been the second class.
Ok for a lower hotel restaurant, hard to really screw up the breakfast mainly with a buffet, but service on a non-business Sunday morning over an hour. I would have had more research, then only the reservation, because this was not the kind of restaurant we wanted.
The place is located in a hotel bar area so that eating is a kind of bar to eat. I ordered an appetizer, a blt and a cold milk. the streettacos were dry and quite lifeless! defiantly would not order them again. my BLT sandwich cam with fringes that were very good, but that sandwich, although the brot was perfectly roasted, was also dry and lifeless. the bar was clean and the drinks prepared for others looked good. So I would recommend this place for drinks and not eating.
