There’s always a line on the weekends so make time for that. Can’t go wrong with their brunch menu and garlicky roast potatoes.

La Note is my go to lunch place in Berkeley. Now I live in the Sacramento region, but I’m a Bay Area girl. I have friends that I meet for lunch sometimes only once a year but this is where we go. This is a wonderful little French restaurant that has a beautiful patio in the back, they are known for their great breakfast and their food staples, like a beautiful Nicoise salad. The pancakes are about the size of the plate – huge and lots of great buttermilk flavor. Big French cups of coffee or lattes are best enjoyed before your entree. It’s just my go to place when meeting friends on my way to and from the Bay Area. Easy street parking out front. Great service! Parking: Plenty of street parking n front and nearby. About $3.50 an hour

My friend Colin took me here for lunch during my Emeryville work days several years back and I 've been returning ever since to this special bistro. They do a fantastic lunch and brunch menu in that country-French style and I 've never been disappointed with a single dish. Their salads are fantastic, all unique and bursting with flavor and will leave you feeling satisfied. I love their version of the Eggs Benedict, the Hollandaise sauce is perfect and if you 're feeling indulgent, get a side of their Merguez sausage (it 's pretty good). Probably the biggest factor that tips the place over into the excellent category is the outdoor seating in their lovely patio/garden. There 's nothing like sipping mimosas under the sunshine while you chat and feast leisurely on a fabulous brunch. It creates one of those life is good moments. Apr 5, 2014

The atmosphere of the restaurant is fantastic. However, I found the service to be lacking; it seemed like there was perhaps too much for one person to handle. I ordered coffee, and it took quite a while to arrive. My bread and food were served first, while the coffee came much later. Additionally, my coffee wasn't hot when it finally did arrive. There were several small issues that could be easily improved. Despite this, I would consider coming back.

Everything, from the Mr Espresso coffee, sourdough, perfect potatoes, delicious omelet with spiral type ham and white cheddar. This is a top notch Berkeley find.

Nestled on a bustling street in Berkeley, La Note offers a charming ambiance reminiscent of Provence, making it a popular brunch destination. Diners rave about the cozy terrace and hearty breakfast items, particularly the omelets and pancakes. However, experiences can vary; some patrons found the food inconsistent, and service on the terrace may be less attentive. While the menu showcases delightful options, gluten-free choices are limited. Despite occasional disappointments, La Note remains a beloved spot, with its inviting atmosphere and standout dishes creating a dining experience worth seeking out—especially on sunny days.

La Note is a charming little retreat located on the main street in Berkeley. The interior is inviting and cozy, and it features a lovely open-air terrace at the back, perfect for enjoying a relaxing meal. Breakfast here is hearty and delicious, with the eggs and omelets being especially noteworthy. I also agree with another reviewer about the fantastic bacon. For lunch, the salads come highly recommended. My only issue was that the service can be a bit inconsistent on the back terrace, and you may need to be a little assertive to get assistance. However, I experienced no such issues when dining indoors.

The service is kind of spotty at time (i think it’s mostly because it gets so busy around the brunch/lunch hours , but the food and the wonderful bowls of mocha make up for it : oh when you have the option, i would recommend the roasted tomatoes as a side.

Bonjour! Etes-vous pret a manger?! La Note is the place to go to Sunday brunch. Unfortunately, everyone else knows. But you have to eat here as the French fare is absolutely delicious. Try hot chocolate in a bowl or basket of French bread/croissants and you feel like teleported to the Eiffel Tower or the Champs Elysees. Put on your beret and try the Cote Nord, a fabulous dish of eggs with cream cheese (i prefer the goat cheese) on Levanbrot with some provenance tomatoes and Homefries. The proven tomatoes themselves make me melt in my seat. Not to sound sexist, but women love this place for its charm. It's lively, but not excessively loud. It's cozy, but not crowded. Also, it is moderately expensive so you don't have to break the pig bench to eat here. Bon appetit!

Another of these great Berkeley restaurants I haven't discovered until after graduation. Poor me, because this place is my favorite brunch place. I love the decor, it makes me like I am in France. And the little carafes of the water are so sweet. I'm going up from the southern bay today to eat here on weekends, and it can be very crowded. The food is of course exceptional. I had most of the Kote courts, along with the French toast. The chic eggs are fluffy, and the homeries I love. Prices are not so bad given the quality and quantity. So try it!

We started with the goat cheese on bread appetizer, and I ordered the daily special fish, which was a snapper fillet served on spaghetti, while my boyfriend chose the chicken with thyme and lemon. The appetizer was fantastic; even though I'm not usually a fan of cheese, the goat cheese was so delicious that I couldn't help but drool. I was eagerly anticipating the main courses, but unfortunately, I was left quite disappointed. My dish was flavorless—the noodles and fish were dull and unexciting. The only thing that had any taste at all were the overcooked burnt carrots. My boyfriend wasn’t happy with his meal either. We were so disheartened that we skipped dessert and left feeling unsatisfied. To top it off, we both woke up with upset stomachs the next day. Overall, it was not a pleasant dining experience. I might consider returning for brunch or lunch, but dinner is definitely off the table.

Usually, the food at La Note is nearly perfect, so I'm hoping my recent experience was just an anomaly. My omelette, potatoes, and toast were drenched in grease. The omelette fell apart, and the ham was cold. I ended up pouring off the excess liquid and moving the food to another container. If I hadn't taken insulin, I probably wouldn't have eaten it.

I recently had the Corbeille de Pain and the Les Diabolos at La Note, and I was really impressed. The bread basket was quite generous and featured a wonderful selection, making it the ideal size for two people to enjoy with our breakfast. Both the Pomegranate and Lemon Les Diabolos were absolutely delicious.

I can't stop praising the breakfast—it is simply AMAZING! Every detail is meticulously crafted to perfection. Although it might be a little pricier, it is definitely worth every penny—you won't regret it!

Wonderful place to go for breakfast/brunch. They have unlimited house coffee refills which is good news for coffee lovers. I tried the oats and raspberry pancakes while the husband tried their cheese omlette with sourdough bread and house fries on theside. He said he has not even that good an omlette before : For drinks i ordered fresh orange juice while husband had coffee.Would definitely go here again if I am in Berkeley.

I’ve been here a handful and will always come back when I’m craving it. Love love love this place! The omelette with ham and cheese is always a hitter! You have to try this place at least once… otherwise I’d say you’re missing out a lot! It’sdelicious and even the potatoes are so so good!!

Food: 3/5 Service: 3.5/5 Ambiance 3.5/5 Overall: This place was packed and there was a slight wait for some standard fare food. The extended review… Food: Gingerbread Pancakes – 3/5 – I’ve been to a few places where I could compare thetaste. The taste of the pancake was subtle and could have used a little more punch to it. Definitely could have used a littlemore pear as well. Bacon – 3.5/5 – A good serving of bacon and I appreciate that it was not crispy but chewy! Service:3.5/5 – Friendly and attentive service. Ambiance: 3.5/5 – So this place was very cute inside and out. The only thing I’dsay is that the inside was a little claustrophobic. Thankfully we sat outside in the patio which was very nice.

Neat small restaurant with excellent atmosphere. Service was great The food was pretty good and aesthetic. A bit on the expensive end but the portion sizes are big so still good value.

I was so looking forward to this place since I heard really nice recommendations from my friend. I tried to make a reservation but couldn’t reach them. We went there and put our name in waitlist. We were told it’s about 45min wait. However we actuallyended up waiting 2 hours! Maybe due to limited seats outside (we have a dog so need to sit outside), but just be aware theirestimate can be way off. We ordered a pancake with bacon and egg; and a omelette with whole wheat bread and home fries.Unfortunately the pancake was dry, the poached pears was delicious though. The omelette was normal. What I liked the most wasactually the home fries and their butter their butter was so soft and creamy, delicious with the bread. They don’t have dogmenu but we ordered bacon and egg without seasoning for our dog so it worked.

La Note is a breakfast dream come true! From the moment you walk in, you feel like you’ve been transported to a rustic café in Provence—warm wood interiors, charming patio, and the smell of fresh espresso and butter in the air. I ordered the pain perdu (French toast), and it was easily one of the best I’ve ever had—crispy on the edges, custardy in the center, and topped with perfectly caramelized fruit. My friend had the omelette aux fines herbes and it was light, fluffy, and packed with flavor. Their lavender honey is also a beautiful touch—don’t skip it if it’s on the menu! The service was friendly and attentive, even on a busy morning. Expect a bit of a wait if you go on a weekend, but it’s absolutely worth it. The outdoor patio is a lovely bonus if the weather is nice. La Note isn’t just breakfast—it’s a whole experience. Can’t wait to come back! Price per person: $10–20

This has always been one of my favorite places to go for lunch. When I used to work close to it. It is high-end and really quite Superior food. It does get a little crowded and a little noisy even though they've tried to mitigate it. It's still really bad if you can eat in the backyard. You're golden but eating inside the restaurant makes you feel like you're in a crowded food hall. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Price per person: $20–30

I enjoy this restaurant but today very disappointed. I invited two friends to join me and the first dissatisfaction was a dirty water glass given to one of my guests (lemon stuck on the inside). The supplemental server was apologetic but replaced that water glass with another dirty water glass (2nd dissatisfaction). The restaurant wasn't full at that point, so I didn't understand the lack of attention to detail. The supplemental servers can do better. Food: 5 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3
