Another of these great Berkeley restaurants I haven't discovered until after graduation. Poor me, because this place is my favorite brunch place. I love the decor, it makes me like I am in France. And the little carafes of the water are so sweet. I'm going up from the southern bay today to eat here on weekends, and it can be very crowded. The food is of course exceptional. What Renee G doesn't like about La Note:
Typically, the food here is nearly perfect. I hope my recent experience was just a fluke. My omelette, potatoes, and toast were all swimming in a greasy liquid. The omelette fell apart, and the ham was cold. I ended up pouring off the liquid and transferring the food to another container. If I hadn't taken insulin, I probably wouldn't have eaten it. Everything, from the Mr Espresso coffee, sourdough, perfect potatoes, delicious omelet with spiral type ham and white cheddar. This is a top notch Berkeley find.
A place that literally every Berkeley student has to go to, it seems. So, I went! Very lively and cozy atmosphere at La Note. Waits do get long so plan ahead for that! My friend and I got the ratatouille and some type of pancake and we shared it. Pretty good although I wish that the breakfast selection was more than eggs and pancakes. Would I say that it’s the most amazing place? Probably not, but definitely check it out for yourself. The waiter was very friendly though!
I usually get the ratatouille madame and the signature French bread with raspberry coulis. Truly delicious and in a beautiful setting, inside or outside in the courtyard.
I had a lovely brunch with some friends. We sat outside and it was very cute. I would definitely recommend. The staff were also very kind, special thanks to Beth who helped us out when we were running late for a flight!
There’s always a line on the weekends so make time for that. Can’t go wrong with their brunch menu and garlicky roast potatoes.
