Schnabel is in central Basel 100 metres away from the tram stop Marktplatz. It's a lovely area of Basel with an old town feeling. Schnabel is a family owned restaurant with various rooms that can cater for larger groups, but also just two dinners. Schnabel has a seasonal menu. I went in early April, so asparagus featured in many dishes. They also have a very nice varied menu of Swiss specialities (Rosti, veal dishes, etc) but also classical dishes and a good selection of vegetarian options. Our table of 3 ordered: an asparagus risotto (seasonal dish), asparagus ravioli (seasonal dish) and veal liver with salad (speciality menu). Everything was well presented, generous portions and delicious. Schnabel uses good quality local ingredients. Good dessert and beverages menu. Service was very efficient and attentive. Good cost-quality ratio. Switzerland is expensive if you do not have a Swiss salary. As I work in Switzerland, I think the prices are reasonable for the great all round quality. I go to Basel often for work, and will return to Schnabel. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
