Nebst dem bekommt man i... read more Das Restaurant Mandarin ist ein toller Familienbetrieb. Die Gastgeberfamilie ist sehr freundlich und auch ihr Service ist ausgezeichnet. Nebst dem bekommt man im Mandarin auch noch die beste Enten die man in Basel essen kann und auch der Schweinebraten un viele andere Plättchen sind zu empfehlen.

The food was a bit fat, but the taste was OK, and the quantity was generous. The delivery was on time, and as gift we got beers and toasts.

Der besitzer i... read more Bis auf den jungen arroganten kellner haben wir nichts zu meckern. Das essen war sehr gut, ist zwar etwas teurer aber qualität schmeckt man hier. Der besitzer ist sehr freundlich sowie seine angestellten. Der sohn allerdings ist arrogant, unfreundlich, unprofessionell und hat von gastgeberei nichts gehört, da hilft auch der anzug nichts - am telefon redet er einem dazwischen, erklärt menüs furchtbar schlecht, geht nicht auf einem ein und beim bezahlen musste er sich ebenfalls zu wort melden! Wir waren zu sechst, wollten ausrechnen wer was zahlt und er steht einfach neben dran, wartet eine minute und schlägt vor wir sollen "es einfach teilen". Eigentlich geht dem gastgeber 1. gar nichts an wie wirs machen und 2. stehen kellner nicht nebenanstehen währendem gäste sich organisieren. Schliesslich sind wir hier nicht beim billigen chinesen. Tja, sein trinkgeld in meiner tasche, schade nur für das team. Ganz ehrlich, wäre der besitzer nicht so freundlich und das essen nicht so gut, würden wir hier nicht nochmals hin.

Perhaps this was beca... read more Was here in August with friends and family. Food was brillant, I dare say 5 pluds, service to die for. All staff paid attention to detail. Perhaps this was because my friend made the reservation, is a premium customer that orders regularly and the restaurant makes deliveries even though that was not their custom.... get my drift?Fast forward to October, I made the reservation as it was my birthday. Service was good but no way what we experienced in August. Food, just okish. Given this, I am inclined to agree with other reviewers that the food is overpriced.There has been no change in management. Given this, will definitely not be returning.Consistency is EVERYTHING!
