Curry Express - West Devon
Curry Express
Description
Curry Express has garnered a reputation for inconsistency among its patrons. Many diners have reported delays in delivery, often leading to cold and unsatisfactory meals. The quality of food has faced criticism, with dishes described as greasy, dry, and lacking in flavor compared to past visits. While some customers highlight moments of excellent service and delicious offerings, such as well-prepared King Prawn Balti and Lamb Tikka Biryani, others have pointed out issues like added costs and insufficient portions. Overall, while Curry Express may have potential, its current execution leaves much to be desired among its diverse customer base.

I placed an order through their app at 5:30pm. I received a message saying that the delivery would take about one hour, which was okay with me (around 6:30pm). However, the food never arrived. I called and a confused girl answered the phone and had no information about our order. After calling again, I was informed that there was a delay with the delivery driver but that the order was on its way. The food finally arrived 2 hours later, cold and soggy. There was no apology or communication about the delay. The customer service was very poor. I will not be returning to Curry Express again.
I visited this restaurant for the first time and ordered online. I found the food to be a bit expensive, especially when I realized that VAT was added separately and not included in the dish price. However, the 5% discount for online orders was a nice touch. Although I was quoted a 20-minute pick-up time, it actually took 30 minutes from order to collection. Despite the slight delay, the King Prawn Balti, Lamb Tikka Biryani, and Keema Naan bread were all delicious, hot, and plentiful. We really enjoyed our meal and found the staff to be friendly, polite, and apologetic for the wait. We would definitely order takeout from here again, but the post-order VAT addition is the only thing keeping this from being a five-star review.
We arrived at a Holiday Cottage nearby on a Thursday evening. Decided we would have the night in with a takeaway, as recommended by the owners of the cottage. I called the Indian and asked for their delivery service however they only normally deliver on a Friday or Saturday. They went above and beyond and confirmed that they would deliver to us. Within 40 mins we had the best Indian food we had ever tasted. The flavours and spicing were absolutely amazing. My Husband and I both agreed that this Indian food was so much better than our local Indian take aways. Highly recommended thank you!
Yesterday night, we ordered Indian food from here and it was quite greasy and lukewarm. The taste was just average, with nothing really standing out as particularly delicious or flavorful. The delivery was also 40 minutes late in total. Additionally, the delivery driver came back to our door after we had paid to inform us that the agreed price had changed and we owed extra money. This seemed questionable to us. While the food was okay for an Indian restaurant, I don't think we would order from there again.
Had a takeaway treat last night but what a difference, not sure what’s happened . Man behind the counter was very nice but the food wasn’t a touch on before. Very dry, spot the chicken and the foil dish was only half full. Ordered a Peshawar nan no fruit in the middle very crumbly unlike any previous nan I’ve had. The complimentary papadum and dip is no longer complimentary so beware .
