After spending 10 hours at Overlook Hospital and being eight months pregnant, I was excited to finally eat. I accidentally ordered the wrong drink—a frozen cappuccino—and when I realized it, I got back in line to correct it. I told Mike I was happy to pay the difference for a frozen cappuccino blast, but he dismissively said, “Next time, order the right drink. Now the wrong drink is wasted, and I have a line.” I apologized again and made it clear I didn’t want the mistaken drink or a free replacement. While waiting, I asked if I could use the bathroom, but he said it was out of order because of the line. I understand he was busy, but it’s not just what you say—it’s how you say it. His attitude made me feel belittled. Having worked at Dunkin’, I know how stressful busy times can be, which is why it’s disappointing to encounter such negativity in a place that’s usually great.
