What Tony B doesn't like about Da Haaf:
A small restaurant located in a college in Scalloway. We had strong recommendations. But items on the menu were quite expensive. I had a fish tagine which was really not at all like an authentic tagine. I was quite disappointed. The Scalloway Hotel along the road was much better value and had good food at a rerasonable price. Had lunch here today and it was superb! The Cullen skink was chock full of flavour and the fishcakes to die for. If you're in Scalloway, definitely give this place a try
Had the afternoon of from work so decided to take my mother out for lunch and after a quick look on trip advisor I found Da Haff restaurant at the nautical college in Scalloway and thought I would give if a shot and I'm glad I did, so I decided to give the fish cakes ago and boy were they good probably the best fish cakes iv had from a restaurant lovely and light with a brilliant ratio of fish to potato (as other place iv had fish cake tend to put far too much potato over fish and they end up to heavy)with a side of chips and cheese and my mother had fish and chips which she said was lovely as well but it could of been better if the chips were home made and not bought in.
Along the Bay from the museum and castle, easy to find in the NA Fisheries Collage. Wonderful Cullen Skink soup and superb fish dishes. Staff very helpful.
This restaurant is contained within the North Atlantic Fisheries College and I am led to believe that it is the students dining room. On certain nights of the week it is a restaurant open to the public but you need to make a reservation.
Excellent food and excellent service. Lovely staff, good sitting area, definitely recommend if you visit Shetland.
