Tycoon - San Andreas
Tycoon
Description
This restaurant has received quite a mix of reviews. Some customers found the food to be excellent, with dishes like boat noodles and Thai tea standing out as favorites. The service, while friendly, was lacking in some instances with slow response times and subpar interactions. The atmosphere inside the restaurant received praise, with one reviewer recommending the fried rice and BBQ pork as must-try items. Prices were considered reasonable, especially for the Bay Area. Overall, the consensus seems to be that while this restaurant has some standout dishes and great potential, there are areas that could use improvement to keep up with the competition.

Tycoon has been my go-to place for delicious Thai food 3 years now. The quality and taste of their food has been consistent and I know that I will enjoy my meal every time I order here.I usually go back and forth with the Pad Thai and Pad See Ew. The Pad Thai has the right amount of tanginess from the tamarind that I enjoy. The Pad See Ew has deep soy sauce flavor. It’s hard to choose sometimes which one I want.I’ve also had their fried chicken with fried rice and chicken noodle soup. The fried chicken with fried rice, that comes with a sweet and sour sauce, is really good and not that greasy. The chicken noodle soup is comforting on a cold day.I’ve also had their Laotian noodles and grilled chicken rice plate. The Laotian noodles come with a lot of veggies and the grilled chicken is a healthier alternative to the fried one without skimping on flavor. As for desserts, I’ve only had the mango sticky rice and it’s a yummy way to end any meal you get there.Service is fast and friendly. They do a lot of takeout orders but they manage to get orders done in a timely manner. The atmosphere inside is casual with a few tables for indoor dining.I’m so glad that Tycoon has survived the pandemic. If you’re in the Tenderloin and want delicious and affordable Thai food, definitely check Tycoon out.
I come here all the time. It's definitely my favorite local joint. My favorite is their pineapple fried rice with a yellow curry, but I also like their Pad Mee Lao.Would also recommend their Papaya Salad if you're looking for something that is simultaneously very hot and very sweet. Pretty addictive imo. This place is diamond in the rough.
Ordered on door dash. The food was pretty solid; we ordered the Pad Gra Tiem, thai Omelette and Kra Dook Moo Tod.The fried spareribs with the sweet and sour sauce was delicious. The beef and the omelette were more on the ordinary side but still tasty.
I ordered some food from here again and I didn't like the quality that they served me this time. The Tom Kha Soup with shrimp and the red curry are good. Though the paid Thai was filled with burnt scrapes. Definitely not worth trying again. The whole pad Thai was filled with it. Not happy with the food that was served.
First time visiting, ordered the boat noodle. Food was great but the service received from the waitress was subpar at best. Barely wiped the table, no water, and only came after about 20 min or so in not terribly busy setting. Would absolutely understanding if they're new to serving but she was addressing all the side requests from customers who spoke language she understood. If you cant handle, hire someone or more people to serve. Its a shame food was great but certinly wont be returning. Two stars only because chef was the one hwo had to bring food.
