Was David H at Tycoon a mag?
Great atmosphere inside. If you know anything about the tenderloin, getting to the actual restaurant might be somewhat of an adventure but the actual atmosphere inside is super nice and would definitely recommend sitting down if you are around the area. The friend rice is really good and reminds me of home cooked fried rice from my childhood. The friend chicken is somewhat hit or miss but the rice and noodles is what... View all feedback.
What Namjun Kim dislikes about Tycoon:
First time visiting, ordered the boat noodle. Food was great but the service received from the waitress was subpar at best. Barely wiped the table, no water, and only came after about 20 min or so in not terribly busy setting. Would absolutely understanding if they're new to serving but she was addressing all the side requests from customers who spoke language she understood. If you cant handle, hire someone or more... Hidden gem I’m just upset I forgot to take pictures. Everything we had was amazing. Even their hand sanitizer was the high quality one. We had Thai ice teas that were so delicious. My husband wanted shrimp tempura but they don’t have any, so she told him to get the crispy shrimp rolls. My husband couldn’t believe it was better than tempura. We had the pad Thai which was Level 10. The pork fried rice also excellent. We ordered a beef noodle soup but we were too stuffed to eat it. Definitely ? give this place a try. They must have had like 10 door dashes while we were here. They also have a section of Laos food with all the well known dishes. Give it a try! You won’t regret it. Give Ashley a high five ?️ She’s charismatic and friendly.
Indulging in the sublime culinary delights offered at Tycoon is a sensory journey like no other. With each visit, my beloved husband and I surrender to the allure of their exquisite fare, succumbing to its irresistible allure once a month, beckoned by an insatiable longing for their gastronomic mastery. Our palate's desires are artfully appeased by the enchanting symphony of flavors found in their legendary yellow curry, flawlessly complemented by the tantalizing notes of pineapple-infused fried rice. Yet, on our latest rendezvous, we embarked on a daring exploration of their menu, electing to savor the ethereal delights of money bags, accompanied by the delicate dance of freshness encapsulated within the shrimp rolls, all culminating in a soul-soothing encounter with their exquisite beef soup. Our love for this culinary haven knows no bounds, for within its walls, our hearts find solace and our taste buds find euphoria.
Tycoon has been my go-to place for delicious Thai food 3 years now. The quality and taste of their food has been consistent and I know that I will enjoy my meal every time I order here.I usually go back and forth with the Pad Thai and Pad See Ew. The Pad Thai has the right amount of tanginess from the tamarind that I enjoy. The Pad See Ew has deep soy sauce flavor. It’s hard to choose sometimes which one I want.I’ve also had their fried chicken with fried rice and chicken noodle soup. The fried chicken with fried rice, that comes with a sweet and sour sauce, is really good and not that greasy. The chicken noodle soup is comforting on a cold day.I’ve also had their Laotian noodles and grilled chicken rice plate. The Laotian noodles come with a lot of veggies and the grilled chicken is a healthier alternative to the fried one without skimping on flavor. As for desserts, I’ve only had the mango sticky rice and it’s a yummy way to end any meal you get there.Service is fast and friendly. They do a lot of takeout orders but they manage to get orders done in a timely manner. The atmosphere inside is casual with a few tables for indoor dining.I’m so glad that Tycoon has survived the pandemic. If you’re in the Tenderloin and want delicious and affordable Thai food, definitely check Tycoon out.
I come here all the time. It's definitely my favorite local joint. My favorite is their pineapple fried rice with a yellow curry, but I also like their Pad Mee Lao.Would also recommend their Papaya Salad if you're looking for something that is simultaneously very hot and very sweet. Pretty addictive imo. This place is diamond in the rough.
I ordered some food from here again and I didn't like the quality that they served me this time. The Tom Kha Soup with shrimp and the red curry are good. Though the paid Thai was filled with burnt scrapes. Definitely not worth trying again. The whole pad Thai was filled with it. Not happy with the food that was served.
This restaurant has received quite a mix of reviews. Some customers found the food to be excellent, with dishes like boat noodles and Thai tea standing out as favorites. The service, while friendly, was lacking in some instances with slow response times and subpar interactions. The atmosphere inside the restaurant received praise, with one reviewer recommending the fried rice and BBQ pork as must-try items. Prices were considered reasonable, especially for the Bay Area. Overall, the consensus seems to be that while this restaurant has some standout dishes and great potential, there are areas that could use improvement to keep up with the competition.

Food was FANTASTIC!!!!!! Great quality in food and the flavors were out of this world. Hands down best Thai chicken noodle I've ever had Chicken fried rice and the Pad See were so delicious. Next time I am in San Francisco, my husband and I will be back!
Good choice of food . Very fresh and clean . I loved my meal. Reasonably price and good portions too .
One of best Thai kitchen in US or Asia! Collar pork is tender soft w home made tamarind chilli, fresh and good value!
Short walk from the Hilton Union Square. We randomly picked Tycoon and we're glad we did!!! Everything was excellent, reasonably priced and all fantastic! Staff is very friendly. No doubts here, very satisfactory!
I'm addicted and in love with this place. Their boat noodle is definitely my fav! You can select from a selection of noodles and level of spice. Their Thai tea is also good, these two are my go tos whenever I'm there. I'm sure their other dishes are great as well and I will most certainly give them a try in the future. The servers were all very nice, no matter which which time I visited.
