Whitesides
Description
Whitesides Bakery and Café has garnered mixed reviews, with some diners praising its clean, contemporary atmosphere and friendly, attentive staff. Customers commonly enjoy the variety of freshly prepared meals, particularly the breakfast offerings and well-made coffee. However, several patrons expressed disappointment regarding service failures, particularly in accommodating specific dietary needs. An incident involving a dropped food item raised health concerns, further denting the establishment's reputation. Overall, while many appreciate the food and ambiance, inconsistent customer service and hygiene practices have led some to reconsider their patronage. For those seeking a reliable dining experience, caution is advised.

I requested a ham boxed salad, but the staff member handed me a pre-made boxed salad that already had couscous in it. I explained that I have celiac disease and asked if I could have one without couscous. The staff member said they weren't sure if that was possible, but they would inquire. Upon returning, the staff member informed me that they couldn't accommodate my request as the boxes were already pre-made. However, there was a section with all the separate salad ingredients where they could have easily made one without couscous in less than 2 minutes. I was appalled that my dietary needs were not taken into consideration, even when it would have been a simple adjustment to make. It is already challenging to dine out with celiac disease, and facing such ignorance and incompetence is unacceptable. My colleagues were also disappointed and have decided not to order from there again. It is shameful that someone made the decision to refuse catering to someone with a dietary requirement.
Went with a friend to get some pies for lunch and they were amazing. I got a selection of 4 different ones to take home to share with my husband for tea and every one was excellent.
Having an exemption card or badge is a personal decision and not mandated by law. Taken from the government's website. Today, I decided to show my support for a local business in these uncertain times, but I was denied entry because I was not wearing a mask. When I explained that I had an exemption (which is illegal to question), I was dealt with rudely and instructed to leave.
CAUTION: I saw a staff member drop a teacake on the floor, pick it up, and butter it again. Absolutely revolting. Avoid eating here at all costs. Absolutely disgusting!
