After an extremely rainy Sunday we cut our Pendle walk short, we had booked in for 3pm here but arrived 1 hour early, by the time we had gotten a refreshing pint of lager at the bar the lovely manager sorted us out a table nice and early! The food, the ambience, the service, it was all to die for, this place never fails to amaze us.
What can I say my experience at the barley mow was fantastic the staff are ever so lovely and the customer service it’s brilliant I highly recommend this place if your going for a stroll up pendle hill or just going out for tea this is the one .!
Not good to be honest. I booked this for my mums birthday and it wasn't the standard of service or experience I expected. I email before my stay to ask if I need to book a table for the roast dinner that came with our stay package and was told no. When we arrived the only time they could fit us in to eat was 18.30. The hall way leading to the rooms needed a good hover. Then when we came to eat we all wanted the roast dinner because that's what the stay was sold as and there were no roasts left we then had to wait 2 hours for our meal. The manager apologised and said we could come back for a free stay and he would knock £60 off the bill. When checking out the next day he said he would email a receipt showing that he had taken off the £60 from our bill and confirming that we could have a free bed and breakfast stay in the future. I haven't received the receipt or the confirmation of a free stay in the future. So I emailed saying that I haven't received receipt or confirmation of free stay and have had no reply upto now. Not good enough.
Lovely walk up pendle this morning accompanied by a sausage sandwich and a pint of three fours. Great to get out of the bad weather in front of the fire
We stayed on 30th and 31st December. The service we received was 100% from the gent (who I didn’t get his name) at breakfast to all the waiting on staff. New Years Eve at the bar restaurant seemed manic from 2pm onwards but you could tell that Will and Toby had it all in hand and they did a marvellous job. We eat twice in the restaurant and the food was delicious. Barley Mow is in a really beautiful village with plenty of walks – the Sculpture Trail is good and also the walk around the reservoirs. Con: I never expect our room to be cleaned on a 2 day stay but would have liked the tea coffee milk replenished. We will look to stay again soon. Janet
