Description
Nestled in Mortehoe, this pub boasts a lively atmosphere and ample outdoor seating, perfect for soaking up the sun. Patrons rave about the excellent range of locally brewed ales and ciders, alongside a menu that features generous portions of traditional pub fare. While some experiences have highlighted service inconsistencies and quality concerns—particularly with certain dishes like the Ploughman's Lunch—many visitors enjoy satisfying meals like gammon steak and chips, prawn cocktails, and Sunday roasts. Friendly, chatty staff add to the charm, making it a popular spot for both locals and holidaymakers seeking a hearty meal.

We had a lovely pub meal on Saturday evening. It was busy but the service was friendly and efficient. Good selection of drinks and lovely pub food.
We have been to this pub several times and decided to make a reservation for Sunday lunch at 2:30 pm. Upon arriving at 2:30 pm, I was worried when another group at the bar mentioned they had booked a table but were told they could sit anywhere. When I went to the bar for another drink at 3:00 pm, I found that the carvery was closed. I inquired why and was told they had run out of vegetables and potatoes, but could make some mashed potatoes instead. It seems like amateurs are running what could be a decent establishment. I will not be returning.
Drove to Mortehoe to see what was there. We saw this lovely pub and fancied a bite of lunch. I ordered a ham and mustard baguette and Mrs D chose the prawn cocktail. My baguette was delicious; lots of proper ham and plenty of mustard in a lovely fresh baguette. Mrs D's prawn cocktail was enormous and came on a bed of fresh lettuce. She couldn't manage it all so I had to help out. It was very tasty!
Great little pub that has been tastefully updated since our last visit. Friendly staff, great beer and cider, amazing food!
