The restaurant had delicious food... read more We stayed in the original historic part of the hotel. The room was clean and comfortable and had a beautiful private bathroom. The restaurant had delicious food and great service. The saloon was fun with great food and beverage choices. The bartenders were all professional and fun. The hotel is in the middle of main street and is walking distance to numerous wine tasting rooms and restaurants. I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel!

Great central location for the rest of the Gold Country experience with lots to do, see and experience Great restaurants within walking distance and lots of near by shops and wine tasting. It is the... read more I did not stay in the hotel itself so I can not accurately review the amenities.The bar and decor are good.The bar is likely the best bar in murphys. It is the largest that I know of. And the decoration are in line with a historic gold country atmosphere.Drinks are reasonably priced, but not cheap. It's understood you are in a touristy place and the price reflects that. Beers are 6-7 bucks. Mixed drinks 8 or 9, cocktails over 10.The hotel also has a nice outside area.On a side note I was in town for the calaveras County fair. A big weekend in the area. Prices might have been adjusted accordingly.Staff seems good, but in all fairness, my interaction was transactional, I didn't have time to intently examine service levels.This review is one of my poorer ones. I was drunk enough that my normal attention to detail was absent.

We came at 2:30 and the buffet table where the food was, the warmers were out and the food wasn't hot. When we have a buffet at our country club, the food is hot. I think that they were shutting down. The prime rib was cut up n steaks and it was cold. You would think that 38.00 It would b off the hook but I was very disappointed. Bill Castillo
