What Anonym dislikes about Mavis Kitchen And Cabins:
during the week a table from four to lunch. we were surprised to see that it was not as busy as we expected. we were in the kitchen of mavis in the past. we were all disappointed by the food presentation. at the beginning we ordered house baked focaccia, and of course drinks to go with our meals. net 2 x dry aged barramundi plus derée serving of coral grilled king prawns and a barramundi ceviche finished with devonsh... Simply cannot fault this place. Consistently good lunches. Service: 5 Location: 4 Hotel highlights: Great view
Always wanted to go here and finally did. The staff were good and the area is lovely. They allow pets downstairs under the verandah with the frangipani vine. The food was interesting and I enjoyed it. Expect to pay for the experience. Service: 5 Location: 4
My wife and I stayed in the Log Cabin for 3 nights with our 2 cats. Overall we were very disappointed given various reviews and the description of the property. Rustic is ok but it must be good rustic. In our opinion it was not. However you may enjoy it if you like: a non flush composting toilet. Basically a seat with a hole that goes down for processing. This is described as eco friendly but we could not deal with it. It looked to be an old model. We live rural and have a regular flushing cistern that uses water which is recycled. This one was a step back in time for us and real surprise. a step up of about 35cm to said toilet area. With bad knees I found it very hard to get down. Older people would find some problem too a queen bed that has a pronounced dip in the left side sliding doors to the deck hard to operate (1 was almost impossible to close). Neither had locks a good fan above the bed but needing a good clean chairs on the rear deck being very uncomfortable a table that has the end piece broken off (found it down beside the deck) decking that has not seen TLC for a long while noise from cars and trucks from the steep mountain road about 20 meters away other cabins being not far away, voices being easily heard no BBQ The guest book showed lots of happy people but then again there were only a couple of entries per month or so. On the plus side there was a comfy lounge, nice fridge, old but efficient cooker, good water, plenty of pillows and bed covers. Apart from the fan and wall ledges, it was very clean. In our opinion this cabin needs a real freshen revitalisation to justify the rates being asked. We obviously will not be back and I don 't think we would be welcome anyway as this feedback was given on site. We did get a response but nothing came of it, not even a site visit from the manager.
This was such a surprise during our travels. Wonderful service, excellent food and just a perfect location. The barramundi was perfect as was the lemon, passionfruit tart. Thank you for such a wonderful lunch. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Great view
The garden tour, food, and wine were excellent. They have made a lot of improvements, and you may get to see Platypuses one day. Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Great view, Quiet, Kid-friendly

Mavis's would be my retirement planLeave the rat race and manage a beautiful homestead turned restaurant and event venue.
Fantastic location and well worth a visit if you are in the Mt Warning areaLunch Wed-Sunday and Dinner Fri and Sat only.
Edit my review! went back januar 2022 only a vegan option this time and although very nice house made tofu and salat very light and overpriced. we ordered chips because we still had hunger. also no offer to veganize something, despite the possibility to advise in advance in booking. really disappointing in a region that is proud to be green. the service was great, the coffee was abysmal. so many great vegan restaurants in byron these young have to get with the time. previous visit: two vegan options one on the menu and one on the board. No offer to veganize other dishes, although we asked the server to check with the cook, so I wouldn't call that a vegan-friendly restaurant, although I told them we were fan when I booked two days before. not quite convinced that the pesto on the gnocchi did not have parmesan in it. after said that eat good quality, very tasty. they use local organic products including from their own huge vegetable garden. the prices are therefore high. updated by previous review on 2021-01-21
Only went to the lunch (again) to mavis' kitchen and had the most delicious lunch and dessert. the owners are very happy to provide vegans and the chefs always delight us with their creations that we have never been disappointed. we have never been treated as if we were a hassle for the question of vegan fare. beautiful setting, happy staff and excellent quality eating will come to us for more! ps. dogs with responsible owners are also welcome, but make sure they book so that they can get a garden table.
During a previous visit, there were two vegan options available – one on the menu and one on the board. However, there was no offer to veganize other dishes unless specifically requested, and even then, it was not a seamless process. I mentioned that we were vegan when booking two days in advance, but I was still underwhelmed by the lack of options. I also had doubts about whether the pesto on the gnocchi was truly vegan. Despite these shortcomings, the food was of good quality and very flavorful. They use local organic ingredients, including from their own large vegetable garden, which justifies the higher prices. Overall, the restaurant falls short of being truly vegan-friendly and there is room for improvement.

We had lunch at Mavis’ kitchen. There was road works on Kyogle road just before the turn to Mt Warning road to Mavis. This was our first time and we missed the turn. Apart from minor glitch, we found the place at the end. Food was great and staff was friendly. We had 3 course meals and the price is very reasonable for quality foods. We enjoyed our meals. Happy to come back and try again in the future.
This restaurant boasts a stunning location on a small hill surrounded by plains and trees. We had an amazing time at a wedding there last weekend that we're already considering returning for our own! The staff were incredibly attentive, friendly, and genuinely caring. They made sure to meet everyone’s needs and were always up for a quick chat. The venue is well-organized, clean, and has a charming ambiance. We will definitely be back!
We stayed in the farmhouse for a week in Feb this year. So serene with a beautiful creek and walks on the property. Close to beaches great walks, country markets and little towns. The best treat tho was the restaurant just a 2 minute walk away best bugs sweets and wines. Can't wait to go back.
Had lunch with friends at Mavis's in the last week. The food was excellent. The previous time I'd been to Mavis's quite a while back, I'd noticed that the food wasn't all that great it used to be very good but I heard that Mavis's had changed hands. Wonderful to see the menu and food returning to great quality. Congrats to the kitchen, an interesting menu and very tasty food, just what a place like Mavis's needs.
We just had Sunday breakfast which was delicious. It was all prepared to perfection. The cured salmon had hints of its Scandinavian origins but fused with local flavours. The coffee was great too. All well matching the beautiful surroundings.

Working with someone like Mrs .Anita Ephraim is a good experience and has yielded positive results for me on a weekly basis. I invested my first $1,300 into bitcoin and Mrs Anita Ephraim helped me manage my account to success making $14,700 in the first week. it has been an incredible experience from that day on! This wasn't my first time trading but honestly, I didn’t know what to expect when I first joined after much loss in the past. God walked me through the entire process from start to finish, which was a HUGE plus! Mrs Anita Ephraim made the entire process so easy and hassle-free! I’m very impressed! I will definitely be referring her to you all. You can start making money through forex, NFT, and other stock exchanges right from the comfort of your home. Wonderful Sunday lunch. Great food, great service and lovely setting. Thanks
Spent a night for some R R by myself, it was raining most of the afternoon night I was on my motorbike so going out about wasn’t ideal so I thought I’d stay in for the night. No other options than watch TV, couldn’t get any channels or Netflix rang up the owner for help said he wouldn’t come help, I was pretty annoyed that I paid a lot of money for a night’s stay told that. Owner shouldn’t be in the hospitality business because he show’s none, NEVER AGAIN very average cabins for the price that’s for sure

During my previous visit, there were two vegan options available - one on the menu and one on the board. However, there was no offer to veganize any other dishes, even after we asked the server to check with the chef. Despite informing them of our dietary preferences when booking two days in advance, I wouldn't classify this as a vegan-friendly restaurant. I also had doubts about the pesto on the gnocchi containing Parmesan. Nevertheless, the food was of good quality and very tasty. They use local organic produce, including from their own extensive vegetable garden, which contributes to the higher prices.
I recently visited Mavis' Kitchen for lunch and once again enjoyed a delicious meal and dessert. The owners are very accommodating to vegans and the chefs consistently impress us with their creative dishes. We have never been let down by the food here. The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is lovely, and the food is of excellent quality. We will definitely be returning. Additionally, they welcome dogs with responsible owners, but be sure to make a reservation if you want a table in the garden.
