Description

Restaurants that cater to vegans are few and far between, so I was excited to try out Mavis's Kitchen in Murwillumbah. However, when I went back in January 2022, there was only one vegan option on the menu. The house made tofu and salad were delicious and light, but I was hoping for more variety.

During my previous visit, there were two vegan options available - one on the menu and one on the board. However, there was no offer to veganize any other dishes, even after we asked the server to check with the chef. Despite informing them of our dietary preferences when booking two days in advance, I wouldn't classify this as a vegan-friendly restaurant. I also had doubts about the pesto on the gnocchi containing Parmesan. Nevertheless, the food was of good quality and very tasty. They use local organic produce, including from their own extensive vegetable garden, which contributes to the higher prices.

I recently visited Mavis' Kitchen for lunch and once again enjoyed a delicious meal and dessert. The owners are very accommodating to vegans and the chefs consistently impress us with their creative dishes. We have never been let down by the food here. The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is lovely, and the food is of excellent quality. We will definitely be returning. Additionally, they welcome dogs with responsible owners, but be sure to make a reservation if you want a table in the garden.

Edit my review! went back januar 2022 only a vegan option this time and although very nice house made tofu and salat very light and overpriced. we ordered chips because we still had hunger. also no offer to veganize something, despite the possibility to advise in advance in booking. really disappointing in a region that is proud to be green. the service was great, the coffee was abysmal. so many great vegan restaurants in byron these young have to get with the time. previous visit: two vegan options one on the menu and one on the board. No offer to veganize other dishes, although we asked the server to check with the cook, so I wouldn't call that a vegan-friendly restaurant, although I told them we were fan when I booked two days before. not quite convinced that the pesto on the gnocchi did not have parmesan in it. after said that eat good quality, very tasty. they use local organic products including from their own huge vegetable garden. the prices are therefore high. updated by previous review on 2021-01-21
