Description

The Mary Ellen Hotel in Newcastle has recently undergone renovations, but unfortunately, the quality of the food and service seems to have declined. Many customers have found the meals to be overpriced and served cold or incorrectly. While the bar staff are friendly and efficient, the overall experience at this establishment has been disappointing for many patrons. Despite the lively atmosphere and variety of menu options, the inconsistency in food quality and service may deter some from returning. However, some guests have still enjoyed their experience at the pub, citing good service, great food, and a wide selection of beers on tap. Overall, opinions on the Mary Ellen Hotel are mixed, with some recommending it for a visit while others suggest exploring other dining options in the area.

Unbearably noisy; ridiculously over-priced; waited an hour and a half for our meal, which was ok at best. The renovations have delivered much less than the previous décor offered. What has been created is a featureless barn with random divisions, uncomfortable booths and hard surfaces...guaranteed to amplify noise. Certainly won't be returning any time soon.

We had dinner here and the beer and food was great. Good service and atmosphere. When we booked the table were asked if we were vaxed, which we were, so that was a plus.

Beautifully renovated. the staff are friendly and friendly. extensive menu offers common pub suspects, but also some really special meals! really impressed by the food quality, and man says that the beers are extra cold and also go down!

For lunch. the first time since it's reopened. I had booked. we were placed in a bent stand that was not much space and was impractical. the lunch was average and above price for quality and fresh compared to other places to eat around...town kids meal was $15. pizzas had a very small amount to beat. carvings were overboiled and small.

When visiting newcastle called an old favorite. hotel has been renovated and has another feeling for the old days, yet nice. Eating was nice and service good and efficient.
