The Rochester has a wonderful atmosphere and welcoming staff. That said, I would avoid the wings—they were breaded, fried, and dry, with just a light drizzle of the sauce around the bowl. The other dishes, however, looked quite appetizing. Food: 2 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5
The Rochester is a fantastic local pub known for its delicious food, vibrant atmosphere, and excellent service. I highly recommend trying the "shut up and feed me" option on the menu—it’s a delightful surprise. They cater thoughtfully to all dietary needs. I enjoyed a Hahn beer while my friend savored a glass of house wine, both superb choices. The pub features a spacious, lively setting with live bands that keep the energy high. On warm evenings, you can relax in the outdoor seating area, and there’s convenient parking on nearby side streets. Clean restrooms and wheelchair accessibility make it comfortable for everyone. Although parking in Fitzroy and Collingwood can be a challenge, the friendly staff make the visit even better. I’m already eager to come back to this pub again and again.
We recently enjoyed authentic Kerala cuisine at an Australian pub, and the flavors were the most genuine we’ve had outside of Kerala. Kudos to the chef for offering more than the typical North and South Indian dishes you usually find in Melbourne. The brown rice, pappadum, bonda, and fish curry were absolutely delicious. We also had a fantastic time at the Tuesday trivia night, loved the Rochy Mountain drink, and appreciated the welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended!
