The restaurant, recommended by a friend, offered a warm and attractive ambiance with friendly and welcoming staff. The vegan platter for two was a popular choice, although it required a change in seating arrangement to share comfortably. The food, while tasty and filling, was not as exceptional as some had hoped. However, the overall experience was positive, with fast service and a welcoming environment. Some diners found the Chef's platter to be bursting with diverse flavors and textures, providing a fun shared dining experience. The vegan plate was described as huge and able to feed more than one person, with delicious Injera bread. The restaurant was praised for its excellent Ethiopian cuisine, friendly staff, and generous portions at reasonable prices. Overall, diners enjoyed the culinary experience, unique ambiance, and variety of dishes available, making it a highly recommended spot for friends and family.

Was Madasoved at The Abyssinian a mag?
The vegan platter for one is huge, easily feed two people, and the two person platter would fill three easily. Super nice people. The injera bread is deliciously sour. Prices are fair. Just order the platter and leave happy. Updated from previous review on 2019-02-01 View all feedback.

What Yohan dislikes about The Abyssinian:
I hadn’t been in many years, and was a little disappointed in the food. We had the vegan platter. The injery bread was very sour and some of the side dishes were a little dry. Some were quite tasty though, and the space and the staff were very nice. View all feedback.

We went there two of us and ordered this big plate to share for $50. It's worth a try and good size for two, we could not finish it though.

The meal was a wonderful culinary experience. great eating, great ambiente; good service; reasonable price. it is worth traveling to melbourne to enjoy the meal with a friend. it is not a big restaurant that I would recommend that you book in advance. you can see the menu. on line. near a train station.

I have rarely crippled because I am not good at grammatic. but. if I say something. evangelium. we arrived early and I had booked. in fairness, I thought it was a great restrained and that was necessary. that was it! behold, when I arrived, I saw like any other little restraunt on a suburban road. only survive and compete with neighbours. I felt I had gone too much effort for this new place if I just parked a car? I mean, three people sitting outside didn't even eat? it was more than that, we had a reserved place where the staff knew us. who obviously knew how busy it would be! they have broken it. eating? 100% there is no question. the service? 100% that's just, I could put on criticism? it deserves to be a much bigger restraunt! please. much fun.

The Abyssinian Restaurant, Kensington -4.7 out 5. Absolutely exceptional Ethiopian restaurant that everyone should visit. We had the: Meat, vegetarian, poultry and fish platter for 3 people which comes with main dishes on a bed of injera $90) Set of all entrees $36) All the food is bursting in flavour and I loved the variety we got with the platter. All the mains are slow cooked, with the meats being extremely tender. It was such a generous serving as well, with the four us being unable to finish all the food. The mains come on a bed of injera, which is a traditional Ethiopian flat bread that is spongy and has a slight sour hint it makes me think of a savoury flat crumpet texture). The injera perfectly absorbs the flavour of the main meals. I also loved the mix of entrees, with the cubed eggplant with garlic and chilli being my favourite of the 4 only by a tad, they’re all delicious). All the meals are served without cutlery so that you eat with your hands cutlery can be requested) and designed to be shared. Eating from the same plate is an ethos of the restaurant that stems from the cultural belief that those you share a plate with will not betray you and are inherently trustworthy. I think this is so beautiful and a great and fun dining experience. The staff here were lovely, and the restaurant is decorated in traditional Ethiopian prints. Overall 4.7 out of 5. Price per person: $20–40 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Injera Share Platter, Chefs Platter, Meat Platter, Sampler Plate
