It can be difficult to locate this restaurant unless it's on one of the routes from your Airbnb rental through the maze of new apartment buildings. We noticed it on our way back from dinner last night and decided to have a meal here tonight. We enjoyed Jamaican 'tapas' by choosing four small dishes to share, along with some beers. Every dish was delicious, with the mussels standing out as especially good. The staff w... View all feedback.
What Maddison Lakin doesn't like about Pretty Mama:
We waited for 75 minutes for a slider and drank two bottles of wine at Mama Really! Then left feeling hungry and frustrated due to understaffing, plus Adele was playing. Very disappointed with the overall experience. View all feedback.
The worst thing about this place is the locationIt's not really anywhere, so and feels like it lacks something.
I can't help but think Pretty Mama belongs in a hidden laneway, perhaps off Little Bourke Street, waiting for some lucky goose to stumble across it.
Wow, what a let downA disappointment in every respect The service was bad from the beginning and only got worse as we went along.
Friendly staff, and tasty food. Fast service. Good sized portions. Nice ambience, clean, easy to find.
On weekend trip to Melbourne I found Pretty Mama listed in the hotel supplied magazine and on a hunch decided to have a look at this place. Being a Thursday evening the place was easy to fine and there were not many people seated, so in we go. The service was on point from the first gall of water to the serving of the desserts. We ordered Red stripe beer and a rum cocktail to start. Fro entree we ordered a bowl of red stripe curry mussels and a large king prawn with harissa mayo and lime, the mussels were done in red strip broth and were very good, the grilled king prawn was also very good but you only go one which was disappointingOn to the main course, ordered the charred scotch fillet with chimichurri, lemon and tomato flat bread and the jamaican jerk chicken with charred lemon and spring onion. The steak was done to perfection and the was just great, the jerk chicken was also up to standard with a nice char and wonderful spices that were spicy but not hot together with side of plantains with lemon zest and toasted almonds and a curry roasted pumpkins with chilli, pomegranate and Ricotta. For dessert we ordered Caribbean festival doughnuts with chocolate and rum dipping sauce and chargrilled pineapple and banana flame with vanilla icecream. both desserts were very good and of a rather large serving, which was very surprising but well received. we finished of with an rum cocktail and a 3 rum type cocktail which went very well indeed. We found the service attentive with out being over bearing, question answered promptly and water always available. all in all we had a great night out and went back to our hotel well satisfied
