This tiny cafe on bustling Collins St serves excellent coffee with a smile. The staff are friendly and fast and there is also a small selection of tasty pastries
We were recommended Oli Levi by the Concierge at our hotel, and although we weren't familiar with the cafe, we decided to have breakfast there mid-week. As it turns out, it was a good recommendation. Oli Levi is a tiny treasure hidden at the end of a back lane off Little Collins Street. On the day we had breakfast at Oli Levi, we thought the menu was considerably condensed (which can be a good thing...it's not too difficult to chose what to have for breaky). We ended up ordering toasties which were quite substantial and yummy. Coffee was really good, and the service was quick and polite.
Brilliant baked goods! Those mini egg pies! (And I’m not an egg pie person) By sheer accident I followed locals down this lane way to Oli Levi and so pleased I did. A predominantly take away for coffee and their signature mini egg pies (delicious delicious). There is in door seating, only along a communal table. Food... all Oli Levi food looked flavoursome and made for purpose (as opposed to bulk produced, blan, morning with a lot of preservatives). The only thing I don’t like... food on display/ on counter that is uncovered. Uncovered right beside where people order their coffees etc ...the high traffic ordering area. Recommend highly Return customer will do Chai prana and 10/5 (it’s been one of the best I’ve drank) I suspect in peak time for coffee takeaway you might have to wait. But I didn’t have to wait. Incidentally, the lane that appeared to be a dead end, wasn’t and took you through to Bourke street. .
Went here a few times as was staying at a hotel very close by. Sampled breakfast, coffee, egg tarts and sandwich at different times. All were good egg tart was a surprise.....was tempted in by the vegemite version, and it was good......but hadn't realised it has a whole boiled egg in the middle.......not a quiche as I had anticipated. Only downside is the wait, particularly for coffee. At times it was a good 7 or 8 minutes to get a takeaway......and I would say the coffee (in a city that has a huge number of excellent coffee shops) was not as good as some other places.
Strange title you may say? True. But any place that can serve a kimchi Reuben and do it so well, has ticked both boxes Korean and Kosher (style NY origin. A most unusual combination of kimchi, corned beef and melted Swiss cheese. Really tasty. A great atmosphere in a small and cosy place and they serve a very good pot of Earl Grey also. The coffee must also be good because there were about 8 people waiting outside for their lunchtime fix in this very special and easy to miss lane way.
