Was jasmine kop at Hihou a mag?
I appreciate degustation menus as they push me to try new and unexpected flavor combinations. The standout dish for us was the pork belly skewers, which had just the right amount of fat for a burst of flavor in every bite. Each dish was memorable and unique, such as the surprising combination of corn and scallop.
The service at Hihou was top-notch. Despite our time constraints, the staff accommodated our request for... View all feedback.
What NinaK dislikes about Hihou:
I used to go here all the time and it was amazing. I booked for dinner at 7pm for my partners birthday and asked for a nice seat. When greeted the gentleman said we could sit anywhere we liked and didn’t receive my special request and when we sat down in the “4 people only” seat he said he would have to relocate us if 4 people come in. The whole restaurant was nearly empty. I said ok. The service was terrible and the... View all feedback.
Secret bars are my favourite place to hang out in Melbourne. This place is fab as you ring the secret door bell and walk into a very posh bar.<br/ <br/ We enjoyed a round of lemon gin cocktail (but I can't remember the name as I can't find an updated menu) after dinner.<br/ <br/ Lovely ambience and very relaxing atmosphere.
I stopped in here after dinner. Actually it took some searching out. It is quite hidden. There is no sign. There is just a door on the south side of the street on Flinders Lane with a call button. If you round the corner on to Spring Street, you'll see a bottle shop. Hihou is right above the bottle shop (I can't remember the name).<br/ <br/ Once you get in, the atmosphere is fantastic. Very subdued and calming. The windows also give you a great view over the Treasury Gardens.<br/ <br/ The food is supposed to be very good but I only had a cocktail. I had the EDO Murasaki (Japanese whiskey, Campari, Averna, yuzu, lychee syrup and shiso). It was a fantastic cocktail. Spirit forward (which I wanted) and quite balanced. It was also served over a beautiful hand carved ice cube. <br/ <br/ I look forward to going back!
I am absolutely in love with this place. It is a hidden bar in the CBD, with a very nice and relaxing vibe. The atmosphere is fantastic and the service is great. They have a wonderful collection of sake, Japanese whisky, and wine.
Amazing hidden place that indeed surprised me and my friend. We ordered cocktails and they tasted great. Good service, good environment.
When it comes to a nice and cosy bar, I think of Hihou. You enter a comfortable setting where you can sit down, enjoy a drink, and have a chat. I appreciate the variety on the menu, with many drinks being Japanese-inspired. We tried the shoya and really enjoyed it. The ambience and service here are great.
