Our experience at this restaurant was not great. Despite having a menu with plenty of gluten-free options, the warnings on the menu were confusing. It was only when we tried to order that we were told that the food was not safe for those with celiac disease, despite the menu indicating otherwise. We decided not to take the risk and left without ordering.
I went to this restaurant for breakfast and inquired about whether they used a separate toaster for toast. They responded by saying they did not, and recommended that I not eat there if I have sensitivity to cross contamination. I should have heeded their advice and gone elsewhere. However, because I had planned to eat there based on recommendations, was short on time, and didn't want to inconvenience my friend by changing our plans, I agreed to have my toast prepared on the grill with clean utensils. The food was delicious, but unfortunately I ended up getting sick after eating there.
I ate dinner at this restaurant and found that there were a lot of options marked on the menu. They have a gluten free fryer, which is a plus. I enjoyed the pizza and fries, and the drinks were also very good. I would definitely come back again.
They have a gluten free fryer, the fries are delicious and I had the southern fried chicken! A lot of yummy cocktails too! Staff are great and the outdoor seating area was lovely with heaters and the footy on the big screen!
Previously, I had visited The Common Man while it was opposite a temporary ice skating rink, which may explain why the venue embraced the winter theme like many other bars in South Wharf. They had mulled wine, a central fireplace, and plenty of heating to attract a crowd. We were drawn in by their cocktail specials. Who can resist a $12 Absolut cocktail? We opted for the Swedish Vanilla Mule, which had a nice kick, and the Absolut Pear Crumble, made with cloudy pear juice and topped with popcorn—it was a delightful choice for someone who loves cloudy pear (and apple) juice. Although we didn’t dine there, we saw the food at a nearby table, and the burgers looked really tempting. They also have a lunchtime special that sounds appealing: $29 for a main dish and a drink. The bar has an eclectic vibe, complete with a caravan, a vertical garden wall, and a uniquely styled bar, making it a visually interesting place from any angle.
