Was Jettie McLaughlin at Bopha Devi a mag?
While staying in Docklands, we had heard great things about Bopha Devi and decided to try it for dinner. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food was a delightful mix of Thai and Vietnamese flavors. The dishes were not overly spicy but had a subtle fragrance of fresh herbs, ginger, lemongrass, and fish sauce in the background. We highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning the next t... View all feedback.
What Michale Heathcote dislikes about Bopha Devi:
The restaurant is an average joint with high price in the dishes. The banquet do not worth high dollars. There are many better Asian restaurant with reasonably priced dishes. View all feedback.
I 've been wanting to come here for years and finally got around to trying it out and very glad I did! With Docklands being a peculiar mix of having a touristy feel to it, combined with parts being like a ghost town (or should I say Harbour Town ? I find it difficult to find a good restaurant which also has a cozy ambience to it there are a few (such as Nine Elephants Thai , and I can now add Bopha Devi to that short list. The restaurant is close enough to the main pedestrian area to make it easy to find and provide harbour views, but just that bit back so you don 't feel like you 're having dinner in a fishbowl. Upon entering, you 're greeted by genuinely friendly staff and a simple but still charming interior in fact, it feels quite homely with the choice of pictures on the walls. We chose the Pork Spare Ribs (in caramalised palm sugar sauce and Beef Skewers in Lemongrass for starters I would have been happy to eat just those for the rest of the night! The pork was amazing! Succulent, extremely tasty and enough sauce to create the experience, but no so much that your hands were covered in it. The beef was equally delicious moist, tender and served with a spicy side sauce which (in small measures added a little bit of cheekiness to the taste. The choice of mains is good, and they, too, were very nice. The portion size was just enough to enjoy a good yum but still leave enough room for dessert... We didn 't really get into the drinks list as we were both driving, but the Shiraz we had was very nice. Service was prompt and attentive, without being intrusive and the food came out in good time (though, admittedly, it was early on a Thursday evening . The staff were friendly and engaging, being knowledgeable about their dishes and offering genuine suggestions rather than just Try the special . They also advised caution, but more on that later... The choice of desserts was limited, but did at least offer a basic range. I decided to try something different and went for the Durian Ice Cream it was at this point that the waiter wanted to double check my choice... For those who don 't know the durian fruit, hunt one down (usually at Asian markets they 're big and spiky and have a sniff it stinks! But, despite its reputation, the durian ice cream was interesting and at least I gave it a go. The Black Sesame ice cream was very nice! In summary, Bopha Devi is a place with a good feel serving well priced tasty food you can do worse in Docklands...
I just can't begin to explain how awesome this place is. The service is perfect, the interior more than makes up for the boring Docklands. But most importantly the food, just ****** fantastic. The Amok was spot on, creamy and tasty and brought me straight back to Angkor Wat. The Choo Chi was even better, every bit was a dream. I am kicking myself for not coming here years ago. Can't wait to come back.
This is our first time trying Cambodian food. We loved it It's similar to Thai food with similar ingredients. Seems this is an authentic place
Went in here last night on a whim. The food was absolutely delicious. Some of the best food I've had in a while. Fresh, flavoursome and made with care. Docklands is known as being a bit of a ghost town, but there were plenty in here, so obviously the word is out! Very quick and friendly service too, along with nice decor. Plenty on the menu for vegetarians, (and they're not an afterthought) and even a few options suitable for vegans. Very reasonably priced. Highly recommend.
