I was seeking a bento lunch and Yelp led me straight to this little hole in the wall off of Kalakaua Ave. At first I was hesitant, as I always associate Kalakaua with Waikiki and parking is horrendous there, however this place is closer to Ala Moana.The bento I got is called Special Bento and it sure was special! For just $16.50, I got a bento that had 9 small compartments with various items in it. I wish I could tell you all the items but they didn 't list them on the menu. Some were familiar foods like sushi, sashimi, salmon, unagi, chicken, fruit, etc. Others were not as familiar, but still very tasty! It also came with miso soup.This is a take out only place (at least it is as of Jan. 2023). I called my order in and it was ready in 15 min. Parking is on the left side of their place. Just drive down the narrow way and you 'll see parking in the back. Service was outstanding. The lady who gave me my bento was very sweet and kind.In addition to the Special Bento, they have about 10 lunch bento options, 10 dinner bento options and a few appetizers. Lunch is from 11 1:30 and dinner is 5 8, Tues Sat. They 're closed on Sun Mon.Get your yummy bentos here, folks!

When they did dine-in service there were onl... read more Mom n pops are always worth looking into. Do-ne is another one of these types of shops you might want to check out. When they did dine-in service there were only a few tables, take out was brisk. They only do take out now. They put a great deal of effort into their offerings, we particularly like their sukiyaki offering and their special bento which has nine different portions which allows you to sample nine different samples- a potpourri of Japanese delights. Do-Ne is a hard working husband and wife team and they are putting out delicious food. You enter through a single lane to a rear parking area. The parking is limited but we have never had a problem because everything is take out. Check them out on Instagram, call in your order and pick it up. The longer lead time you give, the better chance they won't be sold out. Support a great Japanese restaurant that won't break da bank.

Pumpkin tempura unfortunately loose its crunch but still very tasty, fried mackerelbreading and flavor was great, potato salad was also very enjoyable and I loved the addition of apples inside. The lady behindthe counter was very nice and we appreciated how helpful she was. If I wasn't a tourist, I would order from here fairly often Ithink.

Every dish we ordered was tasty, but the portion could be a little bigger. Perhaps it?s served as traditional Japanese portion whichis somewhat less than the US standard.
