I had trout that wa... read more I stopped by, expecting a typical meal in Hinterzarten, but was pleasantly surprised by the interesting menu and the very fresh ingredients! I had trout that was flavorful and well seasoned. The dinner salad was excellent. Dessert was wonderful and prices were very reasonable.

So, we got our table, the ser... read more On our first evening in the region were lucky to find a table here, you have to reserve for almost every restaurant in the region. So, we got our table, the service was very nice, food was good (little over the prices in Germany). We've got two kinds of mushroom dishes, one steak and one children Schnitzel. All were very good and more than enough. On the last day we decided to go again there (with reservation this time). It was a totally different atmosphere. Hard to explain, maybe was also because of the room we were in, the restaurant have different sections. My daughter and I decided to share one of the mushroom dishes, so we did that. The evening was quite pleasant, but the next day we got really really, I mean, really sick. My daughter and I, nausea, throwing up, chills, fever, really sick. I'm a GP, so I know what I'm talking about, believe me. I can hardly believe it, but I think that we did some food poisoning from the mushrooms. My husband and son were fine. But they didn't taste from our meal. We were sick for two days, exhausted. The dish was: Schwarzwälder Pilzpfännle mit Gemüse und Schöpfnudeln Mountain mushrooms with noodles

The breakfast has several kinds of really good bread but if they run out before you get there it is really "too bad - so sad" for you. We had to ask for coffee and cups and it was always a wait if you got it at all. The steak was cooked too well - the spatzel is very good - the salads are fresh and prepared well.

Still we were served straight away and didn't have to wait long for our drinks.We chose Hirschmedallions which were outstanding with a lovely gravy. Despite being very busy we never felt rushed and enjoyed a wonderful evening
