This is a very pleasant 5-star luxury hotel situated in the Hoch Schwartzwald Black Forest) in South-eastern Germany. The hotel is family-owned since 1446 see picture)!! The village is very nice, surrounded by woods with ample hiking trails. It's also not far away from the nice Titisee Lake Titi) and the ski village Feldberg. The hotel has a very nice feel with very welcoming staff everywhere, from reception to restaurant etc. The ambience is relaxed and pleasant. We had the all-in I think that's all they offer) , which includes a simple but good quality buffet lunch, high tea with lovely home-made pastries and dinner in their restaurant. They only use local producers they list all their producers, many are organic). Dinner is good, with high quality ingredients. It has mainly local dishes, which is very nice. I had the veal liver. Nice ingredients and flavours. The liver was a tad overcooked calf liver should be slightly rose and tender). The same for my wife's medium-rare steak which was medium at best), for which we paid €30 extra. Wine selection was good. Breakfast was truly superb with very good made-to-order omelettes etc. Our room a junior suite) was very spacious and nice. The beds were firm and good. Free minibar. The bathroom was also nice, but it had a rather small bathtub with shower with a small shower head), a bit cramped at the end of the bathroom. They should have used a bit more of the overall suite space to create a large walk-in shower. Towels were of good quality. The sauna/wellness area is beautiful and of high quality. Overall an extremely nice hotel, run by pleasant, professional and courteous people. It's not cheap €560 per night for two). But given the high quality experience and all F&B except drinks at dinner) being included, it's good value for money.
Actually, after the final dinner last year, we had taken care of eating at the Parkhotel Adler on the first holiday evening in 2018, which did not work; for the second evening we got the desired table. On ambience and cleanliness, I have left myself in the last report (see how I am going to be adequately; in both areas, nothing has changed since last year. Service: The service manager, who had so pleasantly looked after us last year, has either changed within the house or is no longer there; we have not seen it. However, there was nothing to be expected from Mrs Brosch, who was responsible for our table this time; like everyone at Parkhotel Adler-Team, with whom we had to do so far, it was also at all professionalism of pleasant unattended kindness. That she had to tell us at the beginning that the Munderking snails (they had tasted particularly good to my wife during the last visit and we had therefore chosen them for this time already as an appetizer, unfortunately, for this time they can really nothing and therefore I like to forgive four stars for the service sector. Food and drink: My wife drank her averna at the beginning as usual (4cl EUR 6.00 and then a Fürstenberg Pils (0.3l EUR 3.50). I first tried a Borbecker Dunkles (0,3l EUR 3,50 which was not so necessarily my case. After wine, I did not feel that evening and after the Borbecker I turned to Fürstenberg Kristallweizen (EUR 5.50). After the snails were not available this evening as an appetizer, my wife ordered field salad (EUR 10,00 and as main dish Wiener Schnitzel (EUR 21,80). I chose the Hubertus Menu (Brazed rabbit spine with root vegetables salad Wild boar sausages with cream wesing sworn pumpkin and currant dessert for EUR 35.00 . If I had seen what was coming to me, I would certainly have chosen half the peasant who I had in great memory from the previous year, or another dish. Right. Apart from the presentation of her appetizer, which she had imagined somewhat different and not so simple, my wife was very satisfied with her orders; above all the calf carving was of selected good quality and perfectly prepared. When I had the first run of my menu in front of me, I thought I had something in my eyes. With all love; what I had in front of me on the plate was even very clear for an appetizer. Two very thin strips of rabbit back crossed by an almost transparent touch of bread and stored on a Klecks root vegetable salad . The two rabbit fragments completely overgart, the bread tasted after nothing and the root vegetables after nothing. An absolute malice, for such a work, can be different and I do not want to call it a single court EUR 16,50. To put little taste was at my main dish. From the crowd, the two small sausages would be settled under seniors; tastefully they were very good, but for me they were for me, who at sausages I appreciate the really rough peasant sausages over everything, from consistency to fine. Rahmwirsing was good for this; the sworn pumpkin and, above all, the currants (johannisbeeren zu Bratwürsten? I think I'm gonna cry! I really wouldn't have needed it. The dessert was tastefully so inconspicuous that I even forgot the name. It's not important. Overall, I could not be satisfied with this menu, especially since it has not been worth EUR 35.00 from my point of view, but at best EUR 25.00. After the kitchen performance, which was very pleased to us last year, thanks to my menu and because of my wife's carving, just three stars. In spite of this, we will probably also spend an evening in the Wirtshus again in 2019 in the hope of the kitchen performance we used there. Value for money: For drinks and carvings in order; the field salad was something and the menu was much too expensive. It is clear that this does not remain without depreciation; more than three stars are not inside this time. Conclusion: The kitchen this time at least for me not in high shape; a pity.

We celebrated our first evening in Germany with a visit to the Adler Stuben at Parkhotel Adler. What a treat! The restaurant is charming, as it was the first visit of our friends in this wonderful country, we wanted a typical German menu and a cozy atmosphere of the German decor. This historic place was not disappointed. We had a wonderful time, each tried another element (dry, spaetzle, carving) and order double portions of white asparagus with Hollandaise, which was during the season during our visit. Wine pairings proposed by staff were perfect. It was a wonderful first evening and a great start to our journey!
Decided to treat ourselves to a lovely meal in our stay in Hinterzarten, since Mr. Weather continued to send rain to curtail our hiking dreams. Made a reservation, slogged back to our hotel and cleaned up. This IS a very nice restaurant, after all. We...and 3 other tables had the entire (and large) restaurant to ourselves. So, indoor voices worked well too well. No music, almost whispering to no conversation dampened our enjoyment. Luckily, a vivaciously cheerful man at a table across the room engaged another table in normally loud conversation, complete with a fair amount of laughter. Whew! Thank you. Everyone relaxed, including the waitstaff. OK, THAT solved. Now, concentrate on eating and drinking. Bottle of red Spanish wine, since we are too cold to drink white. Lovely, poured perfectly, and left where we could refill our glasses at our own pace. Thank heaves. Nothing worse than seeing your wine, sitting open on a table NOT IN YOUR REACH. Just say no . And, a bottle of Vittel water for a mere 8 euros. Hinterzarten restaurants are now requiring that diners purchase water, instead of providing a bottle of tap water. Crazy, French water in a German mountain town with springs and rivers. Began with a market salad, served with 2 plates for splitting. The salad was fresh, lovely to look at and lovely to eat, and enough us both. Good beginning, tongues happy from good wine and from salad fresh and dressed tasty. For our mains, a special was the baerlauch risotto. Baerlauch, a wild garlic, is one of the glories of German springtime. The green shoots, in early spring, have a subtle garlic taste that is fairly addicting. A risotto with this? Yes, please. And, it was almost perfectly cooked. Once I slowed down my hunger, in about 4 5 minutes, it WAS cooked perfectly, with that enigmatic garlic taste. We ate every bite. Except, wait: I didn 't order that. Husband did. Because I ordered the kalbsleber: calf liver, which I truly, truly love. It was worth the ordering. You know how nasty overcooked liver is crumbly, dry, awful. This was cooked just enough, with a light sauce that complimented the liver and did not take front stage. Potatoes, on the side, also cooked that just so good to eat German way. Um, pretty happy. Dessert? Of course, as the food had been just enough and not super sized. So, we still have that space waiting for the final little sweetie. It is strawberry time, so , of course, a bowl of Baden strawberries. Just right. Now, the reason for the 4 star and not 5 star (ok, circle) rating. A very expensively dressed woman in her 80 's (we 're guessing), sat across another wall, in a table for 2, by herself, eating dinner. Unfortunately, she had her dog with her. Sitting on a CHAIR, next to her, not on the floor as was the other dog in the restaurant, and in every other German restaurant we have ever been. On the chair, where the next diner unknowingly would be sitting. And, she was feeding him, admittedly daintily, from her plate. He was quiet, she was quiet. Well behaved, except his butt (sorry) was on the chair, as he was fed directly from her plate/fork/hand. We think this is a serious misstep by this restaurant, but then, we were only there for the evening 's lovely meal, and not staying at the expensive hotel to which this restaurant is attached. Absolutely would eat here again (the dog was not in the kitchen). It is beautiful, with, for us, wonderfully prepared food. Delicately recommend quiet music, if the restaurant is not very busy. It can be turned off if there are enough diners to fill the dead space!
