Great venue to visit staff really helpful and friendly. Good Vegan menu alternative which is perfect for us as vegans. Setting is perfect for summer with great views. View all feedback.
What Edeltraud Brandl doesn't like about The Commodore:
the good is that they have a separate vegan menu, but: I ordered the starter superfood salad thought for £7.75 they get a decent part and a crumb. the salad was tiny, with only a sad piece of the advertised sweet potato and no flower cabbage. the server felt bad about it and checked with his superior who claimed it was just as it should be. At least 4-5 vegan options. I had the moving mountain burger with pommes. and very beautiful kamin!
I then ordered a side of sweet potatoes and butternut quash was added when I said that the kitchen was actually from sweet potatoes. I then asked for broccoli instead of the kartoffel and got a small bowl of steamless tasteless sweetened with none of the sauce/additons specified on the menu. I guess I don't have to say that the crumb wasn't great either.
Interesting and creative vegan menu. beautiful environment and very helpful staff. location is great, right at the sea and with sitting area outside with magnificent view.
Really impressed with the vegan menu at the Commodore, especially as they have a few choices of dessert (and not a fruit salad in sight Visited around a month ago and had the burger and chocolate cake and both were delicious. They don't seem to have plant milks available for tea/coffee though which is strange. Hopefully they will rectify this if enough of us give feedback to them about it. Will definitely eat here again when back in Helensburgh.
It was me and my mother was the first time in helensburgh and it was just by chance that our travelodge in which we were was right next to this beautiful pub! we have booked a table for 7 o'clock and a beautiful seat next to the window in a quiet opposite of the pubs. cara (I think her name was and her service was absolutely great. she was extremely accentuated on our food requirements as well as chatty and friendly. the food itself was just wonderful. I had a bump steak that I enjoyed throughout (and the cheese sauce was to die for! and my mother had a small pizza. We decided to order a hot drink and pudding afterwards, and my pudding didn't taste good, so we kindly asked to return the pudding for us that she did and her manager came out and apologized unfaithful. also he was extremely accusing, professional and friendly and assured us that the pudding had actually been misprepared and he was grateful that we broke it up so that this mistake would not happen again. beautiful, homely place with fantastic eating and the most fantastic staff! Many thanks, we look forward to our return in the near future!
