Sugar Boat - Helensburgh

We thoroughly enjoyed the food, but we would have ordered several more drinks if we had been offered. It's nice when staff check in to see if you'd like another drink when your glass is empty, rather than having to request one yourself. The staff were friendly and pleasant, but they certainly missed an opportunity to increase their sales with us!

I had a delightful meal as always, but I was a bit disappointed with the cheese board. It came with just three small pieces of cheese, some oatcakes, and chutney, which didn't seem worth the £12 charge!

We visited Sugar Boat on August 5th. Our greeting was pleasant, although we were given the wrong menus at first. After being shown to our table, we noticed that all the chairs were dirty. We requested a quick cleaning, which was handled promptly, but it made us wonder why this had not been done beforehand. The food service and quality were quite good, which was a plus. However, we were disappointed with the condition of the restrooms. All of them are unisex and each has a bin for sanitary products, but they were all overflowing! The toilets hadn’t been cleaned either. Because of this, my wife was hesitant to use the facilities, and I completely understand her hesitation. I brought this issue to the attention of the staff, and I really hope they have addressed it. It raises concerns about the cleanliness of the rest of the restaurant when the restrooms are in such a state.

We had a truly enjoyable meal, and the staff were a delight. I must say, it is a bit too expensive for my budget, but it was a pleasure to have the opportunity to visit. Thank you!
