Lovely little gem of a place. Quick service, extremely delicious despite everything being just tofu. Charming interior and atmosphere and they have options for people who don't like tororo aka slimy japanese yams. They also have English menus with clear explanations of everything if you are Japanesed challenged. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Shika Jaya:
The hostes is really nice and the food is typical Japanese. However I personally won't go back for a second time. I took the tofu meal and I didn't like it very much. Maybe because I'm a foreigner, I don't know. It's a great food challenge for those who dare though! View all feedback.
It is the restaurant which delicious tofu dishes can eat with a Japanese-style calm atmosphere. As there is little quantity, it is good for diet. When you came to Hakone-yumoto, it is the restaurant where you should stop at.
Yummy tofu and yam dishes! You can order a set menu and each course is served seperately. There's a vegetarian set too (which was utterly delicious). Good value for money and superfriendly staff!
The food and the experience was amazing! Lady serving us was so lovely, the food was absolutely delicious! I had never had meal with tofu it’s main ingredient and I am a fan now! And guess what they had vegetarian options!
True authentic Japanese cuisine and not very expensive, Forget the western expectations and indulge yourself with Japanese taste and style. Great handmade Tofu, Great vegetarian dishes. Warmly recommended.
Great atmosphere in old style tea house. Service is top notch and both friendly and professional, and for the price it is great quality, served in beautiful urushi (lacquer ware) and a good amount to fill you up. I went for the course with everything. Really enjoyed each course, each with its own subtle differences and subtle flavours. If you love tofu and tororo (sticky grated yam), give it a go!
